shaker hood template

I have a spare hood that has the hole in it to accomodate a shaker. It is not a factory shaker hood, but rather someones handy work with a saw. I am trying to get the specs to see if it is cut in the correct spot. My openning starts 7" from the back...is this correct?

Measuring my template, it should be 7 5/16" from the cut to the back of the hood and 23 3/4" from the front of the cut to the rear of the hood. That measurement is along the centerline of the hood.

well crap... looks like my hole is sitting at 23 even from the front and 7 2/16 from the rear... Think I can make it work? I dont have the shaker assy. yet.
