  1. Man that motor swung that big car around very nicely...
  2. Yikes! I like the hydro clutch and installed one on my fastback. I pieced my own kit together using quality CNC brand slave and master, purchased the bracket to mount the slave to the trans. Only thing I really had to fabricate was how to fasten the actuator to the pedal assy. Im in it under $200 and it works like a charm. I do like the hydro throw-out though...
  3. pound for pound, a stock 4bbl cleveland will run circles around a windsor. They have huge heads that are really to big for most street aplications. Theyre are basically a race motor that was put into a production car in order to allow ford to run it in factory backed race cars (early nascar or trans-am...dont remember) THey also have 4 bolt mains...tough RACE motor. Windsors are more aftermarket freindly and parts are cheaper. 3" mains..(ive never broke a windsor bottom end) and its easy to make power out of them. Id say stick with a windsor unless your rich or want to be different...
  4. yeah, neither do I other than I have never had one grenade on me.
  5. very nice thanks for the info. What backspacing up front is good? 235 up front is more than enough for me. Also, any pics of what that 275 looks like from the rear?
  6. It's weird...some guys swear by the heavy stuff and some guys say a 30 wgt. In my mind, it takes more effort to move a thicker oil through the motor. I break in with straight 30 wgt and run 10-30 after that. Never had a problem. But the heavier oil guys can make the same claim im sure. Guess its personal preferance.
  7. I want to run these on my fastback and was wondering if anyone here has them and how they fit? What is the width on these wheels, as well as the backspacing? I would like to put a 275 out back.... possible with these wheels? Thanks all, Rob
  8. It's my understanding that the fastback and coupe boxes are the same and the convert. is different. Rob
  9. 5 leaf is going to be a pretty rough ride. Im done to three out of a stock height 4 spring pack. Rides pretty well and not harsh at all. Even with 4 it was pretty harsh. The back of our cars dont really weigh that much.
  10. Will fox body shorties fit a 69 with a small block? Thanks!
  11. I havent yet but I need to. It still tracks straight but there is more negative camber in the suspension now. Slapper bars are "traction bars" that bolt to the leaf and "slap" the bottom of the spring to prevent the spring from wrapping up. Rob
  12. To be honest i didnt measure it before. There was a guy on this board who had 620's and my size tires. He cut a full coil and it sat right over the tire. So I did the same thing and it sits great. As far as a harsh ride, not at ALL. I think cutting it may have took some of the spring rate out of the spring. It actually rides nicer. That an the removal of the slapper bars, it rides great. Actually very comfortable.
  13. oh and I already crakced a header primary tube on a speed bump..... bye bye long-tubes...lol
  14. Went into the shop this weekend and spent a few hours lowering my car. Suspension is 620's (1 coil cut) new leafs (forget what ones, but they are STIFF) and a 2" block out back. The rear is getting a four link and coilovers eventually. But I just couldnt stad driving a 4X4 fastback any more. Paint in a few months!
