railblazer82 10 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 This probably applies to all tranny's, but the one in question is a C6. I have the oppurtunity to aquire a C6 out of a 69 f250, i figure this probably differs in the mustang, but could it be used??? If it does differ, how? Thanks for answering all my dumb questions!!!!! ForceFed70 14 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 You should be able to use it. Just make sure it has the correct (small block or big block) bellhousing bolt pattern. Also, it can't be a transmission from a 4x4 as they were mated directly to a trasfer case.

I'm not that smart when it comes to Stangs, but I can tell you that I have a C-6 in my '70 with a 351 Cleveland. The PO must've installed it. The only thing that I can see that's visibly different is the driveshaft. It looks new. I'm not saying you need a new/different one...i'm just saying mine is. Ltnrisk 104 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 I will sneak my question in here with out starting a new thread. Sorry rail blazer. I have a 347 and I was wondering what is the best Tranny to mate to it?
ForceFed70 14 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 That all depends on what your goals are. To start... do you want standard or automatic? Planning on racing?
bnickel 10,004 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 most of those f-250's had FE engines either 352 or 360 usually and the bellhousing pattern won't work with your small block. you need a smallblock c6 which are actually fairly hard to come by. your best is late 70's- late 80's truck with a 302, 351 or possibly even a 300ci six cylinder. 69GT 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 I put a C6 in mine when the FMX died. It is a bit wider and you will have to shorten the driveshaft. I think mine came out of a Ranchero.
churchkey 13 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 Had a C6 in a new F150 with a 351. You need to know that the torque converter has a much higher stall speed than one from a passenger car. If memory serves its about 2300 stall.
