Brake upgrades...

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of replacing my rear leaf springs and traction bars with the grab-a-track 4.5 standard eyes and Caltracs and started thinking about upgrading my brakes.

Anyone have experience with Master Power brakes?

I was thinking about replacing my rear drums with these;

and upgrading my front rotors with these;

and add a vacuum booster since I only have 10~12#'s of vacuum at idle. Mainly due to the nasty cam I have....

So, anyone have experience with these rear drums? and the vacuum booster? I wonder where to mount it and if it's a "set and forget" or something you continue to dork with....

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated....

I haven't used them yet but I have heard good things about the 11" rear drums and have thought about doing it when my stock rear drums need replacing so I'll be curious to follow along if anyone with first hand experience chimes in.

there is a place on Ebat that sells slotted rotors (not drilled) called the mustang depot (NOT the same MD that is in las vegas with the owner named Jay) that sell for like 99 bucks. i believe Protowrxs has a set of these. i wanted some but found a beter deal on a set of stock rotors (very hard to do, BTW) from a guy on the VMF so i had to pass on them. if the cougar i'm going to get had disc brakes i would buy these rotors for it in a heart beat. as it is i'll have to do a whole disc brake swap kit instead to get rid of the front drums.

Ugh, me understand that part but me no get why whole disc brake swap means no can get desired rotors still in heartbeat?????? Limitation of existing discs no make sense to me.

captain caaaaa..aaaavvvvvve...maaann!!!!

i'll probably use one of the kits from discbrakeswap.com and they come with slotted granada rotors. or it may be an SSBC kit with one of his drop spindles once he gets them ready. if i end up piecing together my own setup using the drop spindles then opens the possiblity of using those rotors but more than likely i'll be using a full kit as opposed to piecing one together.

better?
