Engine WONT STOP!

Could also be the starter relay (most call it a solenoid, but it's technically a relay...). If it shorts out it will feed the ignition circuit even with the key off. This happened to my '69 Fairlane years ago. Just a thought.

Easiest thing to mess up, the plugs on the starter relay. There are two slip on connectors, and if reversed the engine will continue to run even after the key is removed. Ask me how I know :censored:

 

If I remember correctly, when looking at it, the red wire goes on the right.

I just wired my mustang and if you connect the ignition wire on/off to a constant 12v connection the car will start but won't turn off because theirs still a power source to that wire.

 

Since i couldn't find a wiring diagram for a 69 here's one for a 68 that should help..
