  3. So I'm in need of some help. Due to a lost key, my pops had to be creative to get the car running. Unfortunately this left me in a tougher spot, I need to get a full set up to replace from the wires to the key to start the car. I tried to find it/order it but all I found on CJpony was the key/cylinder and I need the black piece that goes behind it. Does anyone know of where I can get this? On the other hand I had the idea to try to retrofit with a RF Fob / push button start - I did a search and found the "has anyone tried this" thread. Unfortunately all the links were dead and no one said if they had any success. Has anyone tried this? Any kit you'd recommend?

    My New Ride

The car is "Dual Mode" (my concept behind it) .. the SMALL primaries on the spreadbore carb with the offenhauser intake (literally 2 intakes in 1) one for the VERY small primaries and and one for the very LARGE secondaries.

Thanks for the compliments ... and I would have preferred a 911 (even if they are fake backseats) but the price tag was too good on this to skip (12k and it has 71k miles). I ended up not going with the Turbo straight 6 unfortunately. I still kinda wish I did, but I just didn't have enough experience or friends with experience to do the job. I ended up doing a complete swap - 302 (AFR heads, Offenhauser Intake, Spreadbore carb (Quadroject style), Hooker Long Tube Headers, 8" rear, 5 speed). The car ended up amazing as a daily driver (how I used it for the past few years. Can you believe I actually average around 30mpg in that thing if I'm nice to it?!!

    My New Ride

Still have my baby (1969 Mustang) but got a "beater" to use as a daily driver to and from work. Let me know what you think! 2000 Porsche Boxster S
  8. the car is a street car, with an 8" in now. It may make 350 hp on a VERY good day. I always like the idea of reducing weight over adding power (faster, better handling, better gas mileage, better braking etc etc.)
  9. Some Key figures taken from the article: 0-60 - 4.3 seconds 1/4 Mile -12.8 Dyno Test! 2011 Mustang 5.0 (4th gear pull, 15% powertrain loss) Claimed horsepower: 412 hp @ 6500 rpm Claimed torque: 390 lb-ft @ 4250 rpm Actual horsepower: 435 hp 6500 rpm Actual torque: 404 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm Both its lateral acceleration (0.94 g) and figure-eight time (25.3 seconds at 0.75 g) are superior to those of the our best SS (0.90, 25.8 at 0.80) and SRT-8 (0.87, 26.74 at 0.679). http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/112_1003_2011_ford_mustang_gt_premium_test/acceleration_performance.html
  10. http://www.cjponyparts.com/currie-3rd-member-complete-with-posi-4-spider-gear-set-up-8-1965-1973/p/CE325/ Does anyone have any reviews on this unit? Or know of anywhere else that sells a quality pre-assembled unit? I am looking for 3.55 gears with some type of Limited Slip Rear (95% street use). I saw Currie sells an aluminum 3rd member as well, but I havent seen it in a pre-assembled kit.
  11. What is a name of a good STREET limited slip rear? Also what parts are necessary to do the swap/install (spell out as much as you can). Thank you guys for the help!
  12. Fox body style and fiero seats are two strong options
  13. Just a follow up, I also would like first gear to be usable .. I don't know how to determine this, but it seems like higher gears can all but deem 1st gear as worthless
  14. So I officially decided I want to swap the gears in my 8" rear. I have a 302, AFR 165's, spreadbore carb, offenhauser dual port intake, long tube hooker headers and 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust. The trans is a T-5 with .63 OD. The car is a daily driver with gas mileage being a concern. It currently has 2.79 gears, which with the .63 OD really seems to HATE doing 60-65 mph (the speed limit) because the rpm's are so low. I also would like more "seat in the pants" launching strength. I don't know a lot about either topic, but what are the positives and negatives of a posi/limited slip type rear (and what is needed to do the change?). How would I determine if 3.55's or 3.80 would be a better fit? My tire size I believe is 225/65/15 but I will be confirming that.
  15. That's a possibility as well. I do enjoy doing builds myself but had heard that changing a rear is a major pain. Has anyone ever used CJ Pony Part's garage? I know it's not Central NJ, but I've bought parts from them before, so I kinda have some trust.
  16. I am really sorry to hear about the tax! I hope you find your way around it. If you don't ... I'd be more than happy to take that car off your hands lol jk. It came out gorgeous.
  17. I actually personally LOVE that look, I am going to try to beg a friend to photoshop my car literally the same way (Lime Gold and with both the green or black stripes, and possibly leaving the scoop the lime gold). I thought about writing 302 or COHN (my last name.. cause it will one day be like Shelby / Roush / Saleen lol) But that is BEAUTIFUL in my opinion!
  18. I apologize for the confusion... the parts car is in fact a 1970, I used it for the engine swap in my 1969. (Which was actually kind of sad, would have liked to save the car due to the grande tag, and rare/wierd engine) If everyone is still interested in the same parts let me know. Again my apologies.
  19. LFugate - I have the chrome pieces, will take pictures next weekend. MikeStang - yes and I'll take pictures this weekend. Hawkdriver - I apologize but I'm not sure what your talking about http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v291/175/17/31508464/n31508464_31838901_1985.jpg Attached is a picture of the parts car I have on my computer. Let me know if you guys can see it.
  20. Thank you both, luckily it is coupe to coupe (Grande to plain-jane but none the less). How involved is the process, never done one before.
  21. Haha Thank you Stephen for clearing that up ... I am glad I am not responsible for a broken hand lol
  22. Have a 69 Parts car with a random assortment of pieces/parts: Will have pictures of anything requested next weekend. The car was used for a motor swap: -2 Fenders both used, 1 painted, 1 was a replacement -Dark Wood Grain instrument panel -Door Shells/windows etc. (pretty much a complete car minus the engine/brackets/rear. Feel free to ask and I will check. Looking to sell/trade parts. Parts are located in Northern Jersey.
  23. Looking to have the gears changed in my 8" rear. Right now I have a T-5 with .63 OD and 2.79 rear. The car is a daily driver/cruiser, so I don't want to go too crazy, but I definitely want more low-end. I believe the change will actually improve gas mileage because driving @ 60 mph or so is REALLY on the low end of the rpm range. For reference: I have a 302 with AFR 165's, Offenhauser dual port intake(not dual plane), and a Spreadbore carb
