  1. Well Ive been reading a little on the electric steering. I kinda like the idea - its growing on me. Has anybody else on here tried this mod?? I really like the engine bay w/o ps. Id still love to hear from some guys with manual r&p - is it any easier to steer than non power oem?? Also, steering boxes - are non power boxes different than power boxes? Id like a tighter box - maybe less turns end to end while Im at it.
  2. Agreed! I have 3 car period. The wife has claim to one stall - shes pretty fair and doesnt ask for much so I cant complain, so Im down to 2 stalls. And the mower/trimmer/wheelbarrow etc take up 1/2 a stall. Cant afford to build a 12x16 shed for the crap right now - maybe next year, and sure cant afford a detached garage. Space it a premium! I think a few on this forum and especially VMF think I took the easy out selling the F code and buying a complete car. I really believe building a car would be a dream!! I think I took the realistic way out for myself anyway. I would love to do it - I envy those that can do it!! I dont know if I have to $$ to do it and it would take me forever. I cant to body work or weld either so it would cost me a ton. Anyway thanks guys! I will still be working on the new car - it has a ton of things that need attention! I hope to continue sharing/asking/helping on here!
  3. Will do! It may be winter tho before I swap it out tho. It holds 2 small gauges. It also has a larger tach screwed to it - so it may have a few screw holes in it :(
  4. Yea - and he is the "Admin". I say guilty w/o a trial.....lol. I still like it tho - its all good!!
  5. Thats true! I learned a LOT about the 69's with that car. It was a good experience overall. Unfortunatly the new car has gauges in the pillar, and I think I want to go back to a pillar without the gauges. So I need to keep those. I'll let you know if I run across another set in the future tho!
  6. Im trying to plan a next winter project or two to do to the stang. It is a PS car originally, and the previous owner gave me the rebuilt cylinder and rebuilt pump. So now its non power and with the weight of the engine, its a bear at parking lot speed. But I have to admit I am really liking the cleanliness and simplicity under the hood. So - considering non power rack - like TCP. Would this be any easier to steer than what I have now??? Anybody on here have non power TCP and can chime in? If its just a little easier than what I have now, Id probably be ok with that and stay non power. Thanks!
  7. Hey - somebody changed the text under my name to Skop/Coys..... TSFS - I like it......lol.
  8. It was kinda sad. Im excited to move on to the new car - but I did have 2 years of dreams for the F code - but no progress. A move to a different house didnt help either. I just didnt want to be one of those who starts the project and didnt finish it and sells it way upside down. Anyway, the guy that bought it is local and has nice plans for it - possibly Shelby clone and efi, etc - so thats real cool!!!
  9. The rear are 285/40/18 (yes they rub). The front are 255/40/17 Not sure of back spacing.
  10. Will do - your welcome out anytime! My email is the same as my user-id on here - jwscarab at yahoo.com Thanks!
  11. I'll definitly do that. They will most likely come out, but it may be winter before that happens. Im on a shoestring budget with the car now till I get a little more $ saved up. But sure, I will let you know. I grew up in Brookville - and I worked in Greensburg for 6 years! Batesville is a nice town!
  12. I have to admit, I dont mind the non-power brakes. It was one of those things I was going over in my mind when I was thinking about the build of the F code - if I needed power brakes. This car does not have power brakes, and I plan to keep it that way! Its nnot hard to stop at all. It does have 4 wheel disc - I intend to find out from what car the discs came from. But if anybody is debating this on a build - non power with 4 wheel disc seems fine, in my oppinion anyway. Now the power steering is another issue. The PS on this car has not been installed yet. Its nice under the hood without it but wow is it hard to steer at parking lot speeds. That needs to go back on - not sure about using stock setup or something different tho. Thats a next winter project anyway.
  13. Yea I wondered why the dash wasnt new either - but I have to admit, its more of a driver than a correct car. A LOT of stuff done that is not correct - but Im ok with that. I will get some pics of the underside in a few days - then guy did a nice job welding in custom subframe connectors that taper front to rear and go up thru the floor. Kinda unique method. BTW - I removed the skull door locks....lol. Actually the guys wife said she put those on - it was her personal touch to the car. Cool he left em on there - but I had to remove em.
  14. Was not much too unexpected on the Marti - I was hoping it had a factory fold down - but oh well....!! I am happy the car is originally blue tho. OK, you got me on the date thing - I should have figured that out because the door tag is still there! But now that the Marti is in, I just figure I'll post it......see attached. Date is February 12th, 1969 !
  15. I did roll the quarter a bit more (they were rolled and one was getting pulled back down by the tire) and now the tires are not getting "cut" and they are just bumping up against the outer wheel housing - that is much better but I still need to fix it correctly. As for the build date - Im not sure yet. I ordered the Marti - so it should show up in a day or so - I'll post it.
  16. The rear are 285/40/18 The front are 255/40/17
  17. Hows this......maybe they did it just for the fun of it!!! Im just trying to make myself feel a little better.....lol.
  18. John, this is great advise and I am going to look into this. It does already have welding wire (nor sure of size yet but I will find out). But it also has the battery in the trunk, so its a long run. And I probably need to check the ground too - see where its going. It is an Optima battery and a mini hi torque starter.
  19. Thanks Jim. I am going to read this very well and try to understand my engine, This was a great tip!
  20. Now THAT is some funny sh1t!! I just went out and looked the other way, and yes it does read Coys.......lol. OMG - too funny. Maybe we can ignore my wheel reply.....lol.
  21. The wheels say "SKOP" on the center cap decals. The seats are comfortable enough. Im not sure they will stay long term. My plan for the F code seats was to recover some Fiero seats I already bought with Mr Mikes covers and use them. But that will be a while down the road cause Im broke....lol....and have other more pressing issues on the car to work on before the seats. I do need to move these seats back tho - Im 6'5" and my knees are way up there.....lol. I just ordered a Marti Report - very anxoius as to what it tells me. It does have the original door tag tho. It says its a 3:50 rear so its not a drag pack car. But it does have staggered shocks and the N rear end so thats cool. I believe it is Accopoluco Blue with blacked out hood, 4spd, ps, black interior - dont know much else. The PO was super super nice!! He had the car for 33 years and did most everything you see. He was just ready to move to another phase of life is why he sold it.

  23. Posted a few more pics in a later post below.... I do have some Mike. I will get a photobucket site set up and get more pics loaded up on it including the underside. The PO did some nice work installing custom subframe connectors and stiffening up the car.
  24. Thanks guys! Heres a few things about the car. It has a TKO 600 5 speed and a hyd clutch, it is a PS car but that is not installed yet, it has 4 wheel disc brakes that are not power either but I am suprised that it stops easy enough, 2 1/2" ss magnaflo exhaust, aftermarket gauges and it is lowered a tad and has subframe connectors. I did put about 20 miles on it yesterday so that was cool. It runs real bad, needs a tune up and bugs worked out of the ingition. The RR tire hits the quarter real bad when I hit the smallest bump. It leaks a little out of the tailshaft seal. Im looking forward to working out the bugs and being able to tinker with it! The PO didnt tell me about the back spacing on the wheels. I can check the sizes. The right rear hits real bad. The lips are rolled, but the rr looks like it needs rolled more - I will have to do that real soon.
  25. Keep the Cougar Eliminator scoop in mind too - those look way cool an a 69 Stang!
