  1. Thanks Grabber... Can I ask the source of this? It's close, but not quite what CJPonyParts lists on the thunmbnail I posted below. I have no idea what is correct.

At the bottom of the page it says it is from Mustang Monthly (August 1998)

I found it on the net one day browsing.

  2. As I understand it the A servo is the strongest factory servo that was offered. Any AOD that was after 1988 is good for a swap the pre 88 had a oiling problem in the tailshaft. As long as its from a V-8 it will have the largest amount of clutches in the pack, which is good. I would pull the plate off the trans to verify it. Its usually located on a trans bolt on the tailshaft.

Assuming you have a original 302 you would have to get a flexplate that is balanced for 28oz. or take the one that comes with it and get it rebalanced at a machine shop. You will either need to fabricate a new tranny cross member or purchase one made for the swap. A TV cable from someone like Lokar and an adapter to attach it to your carb and correct the geometry of it, (holleys and eldebrocks are different.) Try to get the yoke when you get the trans or you will need to purchase one, I think the one from a C4 works also (but check before you purchase one). You will also need to get your drive shaft shortened. Its also recommemded to use a external trans cooler w/ your stock cooler to help keep it cool, they don't like heat. You will also have to fab up your own shifter linkage or purchase a ready made one for this swap. I think that about covers it.
