  1. you can use the stock shifter but you'll need to find the rod too. I re-bent mine and modified where it attaches on the transmission end. you can also buy a new rod for the swap. (see link at bottom)

    something like this....

use a fmx neutral safety switch(this ones expensive but just an example)

    here's another helpful like too

  2. the other problem with a one piece is that if you have have to remove the timing cover you can't buy a timing gasket set like you can for a standard felpro cork gasket and you're dropping the pan again.

Canton has a stock replacement pan but I don't have any experience but they pretty much speacialize in this.... https://www.cantonracingproducts.com/product/15-650/15-650----351W-STOCK-REPLACEMENT-FRONT-SUMP/

  3. I have Grab-A-Trak stuff all over my car. No problems. I also built my own roller perches. I'm currently running on rebuilt uppers, new lowers, no UCA drop and home built roller perches. They have good stuff and you can get a decent driving car with it.

John has nice stuff too....no joke but so does TCP, global west and a slew of other suspension companies. it really depends on the intended use and investment you want to make.

There are different degrees of suspension. you have stock, stock with poly bushings, stock modified like opentracker, custom with coil overs like TCP, complete front ends like a mustang two and then toy have full rolling frames. So there are varying degrees. it all really boils down to the type of money and time you want to invest into the whole thing.

    these are the new plate.

    Under this program

"Custom Vehicle" is defined as a vehicle manufactured to resemble a vehicle that is at least 25 years old and of a model year after 1948; and has been altered from the manufacturer's original design or has a body constructed from materials not original to the vehicle.

"Street Rod" is defined as a vehicle that was manufactured before 1949; or after 1948 to resemble a vehicle manufactured before 1949; and has been altered from the manufacturer's original design, or has a body constructed from materials not original to the vehicle.

so if i got custom plates....i could register it and never have to get it inspected again.

  5. I live in Montgomery county so I'm required to get an the Annual

SAFETY and emissions Inspection which I fail for a couple reasons.

    Straight from the inspection handbook....

ASM emissions testing is performed on all motor vehicles

    that are:

    1. capable of being powered by gasoline (except

    motorcycles),

    2. model years 1995 and older, to and including 24

    years old, and

    3. presented for annual safety inspection; or

    4. required by state law

This is the inspector criteria.......straight from the DMV and the reason I cant get my car inspected under the old rules and get regular plates. I even have a buddy who owns a shop and wont inspect it.

"The exhaust emission system was installed by manufacturers of motor vehicles beginning with model year 1968. The inspection of the exhaust emission system will apply only to those vehicles that are equipped with such a system. The following exhaust emission systems will be inspected if installed as original equipment by the manufacturer: thermostatic air cleaner, exhaust gas recirculation system, positive crankcase ventilation system, air injection system, evaporative emission system, and/or catalytic converter."

this is the other problem on the exhaust system.............mine dump

"j. The tailpipe fails to discharge exhaust from the rear or sides or top of the passenger compartment of the vehicle."

  6. So another member talking about registration got me thinking and so I looked into my own registration which is past due...but I haven't really driven much lately so.....whatever

Anyway with the EFI setup I have it wouldn't pass inspection. I was forced to put antique plates on it......well actually I put '69 plates on with antique registration....same thing. I'm only supposed to go for maintenance and shows....that's it. I actually hate it.

Anyway I did some research and found out Texas passed (last month) a bill allowing custon and street rod plates. These require one inspection and that's it......catch is the inspector has to be a master ase mechanic. I can't find a master in my area. Booooo

you....could try something like this to get yourself dialed in.......just a though.

Same for me too....I could care less if I get pulled over. The rule was that I needed to be driving to get work done on it. I want to see them prove I was coming from a buddies house to get something done. Good luck with that.

I'm looking at your restrictions and it looks pretty tight. sucks 1968 is the cut off!

Texas restriction.....I just noticed that they list a 25 year exemption.

    1. New vehicles for the newest two (2) model years

    2. Vehicles with antique registration and plates

    3. Vehicles 25 years old or older

Keep an eye on this site for emissions laws.

  8. sounds crazy for inspection up there. Here in Texas they wont even look at it if you have non original smog or air cleaners on it. I had to get a restricted "antique plate" registration.....I'm only supposed to drive in parades/car shows and to get work done on it. Sucks because I though Texas was supposed have it together....guess not. In California, I didn't have an inspection and the exact same car was my daily driver. At least you have an option up there.

  9. There is a '69 Chrome faced grill on e-bay and as far as I can tell this guy has no idea. He doesnt have the number listed but if it is C9ZZ-8200-C then this thing is worth way more than $120.00 to someone.

I would buy it right now but I really don't need it and already have one and thought one of you would want it.
