I was browsing around CJPonyParts looking to rebuild my 8" and didn't see very many 8" parts but they had a listing for 8"/9" axles so does that mean that axles and lockers for a 9" can be used in a 8"?

I bought my from CJ Pony Parts and they fit just fine. If you haven't already, its a lot easier if you take the headlight bucket off.

I will be getting reverse eye leaf springs and just wondering if there is a real ride difference between manufactures?

If anyone else is curious about this swap I found this link with a bunch of useful information. Turns out that a 86-93 8.8 is .25" wider than the 69 9" and the center section is equal in the center of the housing unlike the Explorer 8.8 so there is no pinion angle. http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/116_ford_8_8_rear_end/viewall.html

I've heard the 8.8 are just as strong as a 9" is not stronger? Plus it is allot cheaper to get an 8.8 compared to a 9". I can get an 8.8 with disc brakes, 31 spline, limited slip posi trac, and 3.73 gears for just under $200 from pick and pull. As to where the cheapest 9" I could find with those same options is around $800-900.

Thats right, my mistake. I do believe the the 79-93 Fox already have spring perches welded on not sure if they are in the proper locations though.

So I am getting rid of my old banged up 8" and am looking to replace it with a 8.8. Couple questions I have is what years should I be looking for Ive heard that 79-93 Fox 8.8 are the exact size as the 69 which is 59.25 I have also of people using a 94-98 Explorer 8.8. Also I know that the spring perches will have to be modified to be used under a 69 but will the spring perches the TCP work with an 8.8 here is a link to them.http://www.totalcontrolproducts.com/leafspringplate.html

how to repair and repaint engine bay area
StephenC replied to StephenC's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
I know this as old post but I finally got around to tackling the front suspension this week. I just wanted to say thanks to Maxum for recommending that Chassis Saver. It was really easy to paint with and I like the outcome of it. -

Unless you were going to do the sheet metal work to the bottom of the door shell your self, I would think that buying repops from Dynacorn would be a cheaper route. I just re skinned both my doors a couple months ago with skins from CJ and fitment isn't that great, I spent a good part of 2 hours to get the driver side door to fit half way decent and the passenger side door is a mess I dont know what I am going to do with it atm.

Could you PM me a price for both pedals? Thanks man.
-
Correct mine is currently an auto with manual brakes so I need to add the clutch pedal and a power brake. I believe the 70 is different from the 69 if I remember correctly? Mine is a 69. How much would you be looking to get for it? Maybe I can just take the clutch pedal and brake pedal from yours and put it on my 69 assy?
-
I was wonder if switching the pedal out my manual brake pedal assembly and just putting in the power brake pedal was all I needed to do or if there was more to it then just switching pedals. Also I am adding a clutch pedal to my assembly so does anyone know where they sell the manual power brake pedal as well as the clutch pedal? Thanks.
