  1. I need help guys, I usually drive my mustang to the gym each afternoon, which is no joke, less than a mile away. Well I'm just accelerating down the road and all of the sudden my whole front left fender is ripped off! The belt in the tire has shredded and was slapping the fender! I wasn't going any faster than 40mph. I know half the people are going to say dry rot caused it, but they are no more than a couple years old. It shouldn't do that! It has never been wet since I've had it. The bad part is since its still partly under "restoration" just minor details, and Im still redoing the interior, but it never affected the over all driving to and from the gym. The only insurance I had on it was liability, since a 351 Mustang and 20 year old don't go well together in the insurance companies eyes. Its the only way I could afford it, and NEVER thought anything would happen driving less than a mile a couple times a week! I need advice, I really dont want to sell it just because I cant afford to repair it, but I am in college and money is tight. Can the tire company be contacted for faulty manufacturing? I'm just shooting in the dark in desperation... Thanks in advance
  2. rihannas - shut up and drive has a good little bit of a 69 in there too.
  3. jay h 237 - Im curious if you could decode mine with that book? Ive searched the internet high and low...with no luck all i know is it is a mach 1 w/a 351. im trying to figure out what the original transmission was. my door tag has been painted over as well. but i do have the hood tag. it reads: 490 6 25L 63C 3D 9T02M143407 A BLACK GT DE TT CL RM MO MC 3S from this i think i figured out the second and third line... 63C is sportsroof mach. 3D is interior. i was just curious what the bottom options are. if you get a free moment it would be appreciated!
  4. Ok I could probably do some extensive research on this, but i figured you guys would pretty much know the straight up answer. The two large middle gauges are not working (been like that since i bought it) however the two smaller oil and alternator gauges do work. Is this a wire issue, sensor? any help would be appreciated. Id really to replace all of the with new, but in these times i just dont have that kind of money. Thanks guys
  5. sorry guys ive been away for awhile... to answer some questions. 1) it tops out as in goes through all the gears and as it feels like it should be going 90-100mph...the rpms are so high however its only going about 55. 2) yes its type "f" fluid 3) the shifting is soft but its one after another, it gives no time to accelerate. and struggles to get up to 40 or so because its so low when it shifts to 3rd. 4)it still shifts under WOT at almost the exact points as well. the only thing i can think of is the kick down rod looks pretty bent up, but it is in the rest position under normal acceleration. my best guess is to drop it off at a trans shop when i get around to it, Hadn't really messed with it the last couple of weeks as frustration was taking over, i had to take a break from the stang. :whistling:
  6. I was up under the car last weekend ready to change out the c4 pan gasket and filter...little did i know there's a beefed up fmx behind the 351. so i get everything back together, fluid and all, and decide its time for a test drive. when i leave from a stop everything is really smooth and shifts from park into drive nicely. however, it shifts from 1st to second at like 5mph, then from second to 3rd at about 10mph, then tops out at about 50??? whats the problem here? is this as simple as a few band adjustments, or is this something a shop needs to look at?
  7. that. was. hilarious. glad i wasn't alive back then!
  8. ok so i fixed it at first..plegged in the led and they came on! brakes worked, blinkers. but when i threw on the headlights, the fronts came on but no rear tails or brake lights. now they arent on at all except blinkers? the fuses look ok, maybe a bad headlight switch? ive never seen the "park lights" only the front headlights on with the switch... thanks guys
  9. Hey guys, I'm sure this has been on here before I just haven't been able to stumble across it. If someone could point me in the right direction or some advise that would be great. The headlights, and blinkers work all around, but there's no rear tail lights or brake lights...just blinkers What's the problem here? A loose ground? I'm also about to install led and replace the flasher module, the old one wouldn't be a cause to the problem would it?
  10. ok guys, heres a real task to see how far technology has come. My great grandpa had a 1967 red 390 coupe. Needless to say it ment the world to my mom, who was 15 at the time. Well, her brother sold it to a man for 1200 dollars a week before she turned 16. Now the grandfather and the car has passed. Hearing all the stories she has about riding in that coupe with him, I was wondering if there's any possible way to track it...being that its mothers day...my wheels were just turning knowing how much he (and the car) ment to her. She knows the dealership it was bought from, the man who owned it (her grandpas name), and the man who bought it from her brother. Is there any kind of database from dealerships or resources to further investigate? or is this just done better buy word of mouth around town?

  16. hey guys! ive been a lurker here for a while now, but i recently purchased a 69 fastback with a 351w. long story short, the previous owner straightened the body and painted it. Began ripping out the engine bay, then decided to sell it.... Thats where I come in, I've been trying to fit all these parts back together the past 4 weekends now, and its just turning frustrating - (mainly because i havent heard it run yet! ) So my question is... does anyone know of a decent book, magazine, or even just some pictures would be great?! The shop book I bought from autozone just isn't doing the trick. This model has the alternator, water pump, and power-steering pump. no a/c. I guess the easiest thing to do would be what...? Buy a bolt kit and start from scratch? or try to reuse/salvage the bolts he threw in a dixie cup? Thanks guys! this site has been a huge help already!
