Black Jade 43 Report post Posted March 10, 2017 Getting ready to change fluid / filter on my C4, 1969 version. Would like to go with a deeper pan. I noticed that on a 1970 and up that Mustang II and Bronco used a a deeper pan along with trans filters having a lower pick up. Would there be a problem not having an extended pickup if I went with a deeper pan without the deeper pickup filter? There are no extended pickup filters available to fit the 1969 valve body, just the 1970 and up. 7 Mebels86miz, quoriSer, SweellTrex and 4 others reacted to this
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted March 10, 2017 I'm thinking it would be a benefit in that the filter wouldn't be on the very bottom where a lot of the crud settles. As long as the fluid is topped off the pick up tube doesn't known how deep the pan is. Only the surface level of the fluid matters, not the depth.
