69volunteer 84 Report post Posted October 16, 2014 I am tempted to restore my original 2 spoke steering wheel. It has a couple of cracks (not huge) in the perimeter of the wheel that I would like to fill. I have watched a couple of videos but was wondering what the forum thought was the best material to fill/repair those cracks? My center pad is in good shape but I don’t see where these are reproduced. It has an old leather, lace up steering wheel cover from the 70s that actually looks pretty cool. I am tempted to clean that up and just use it for now.
indianfiremach 170 Report post Posted October 16, 2014 For a driver quality restoration, just fill your cracks with JB-weld, allow a few days to dry, and then sand JB weld down. Then use a good filler primer and black paint. Clear over top, wheel should look good for a driver-level car or occasional show car.
