Trinitys 134 Report post Posted March 11, 2014 Looking to keep the coupe a little cooler than it runs(plus I guess i need a bigger radiator here in Texas as opposed to SOCAL) This is a pretty sick '69 coupe in the first link below and looking at some of his mods I noticed his cooling fans. I tried a Taurus fan years ago but its too tall and rubs the water pump pulley. Anyone else have any experience with this swap with the contour fans??? here are some links to ponder over. I'll be buying sooner or later and though id tap you brains first. http://www.popularhotrodding.com/features/1205phr_1969_ford_mustang_coupe/photo_12.html Write up.... http://www.musclemustangfastfords.com/tech/mmfp_0907_thermostatically_controlled_electric_fan_upgrade/ wiring info....http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/wiring-fan-ford-contour-861468/ http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/electrical-fan-wiring-question-540759/index3.html
miketyler 15 Report post Posted March 11, 2014 I tried that setup on the Cuda. It fits the Mopar 26" radiator perfectly but if you want max CFM, best to stick with the belt driven fan and shroud.
PaleRider 12 Report post Posted March 11, 2014 I did it in my 1970 with a champion 3 row made for 1970. Fits nice - I popped riveted some aluminum brackets I made up and was able to mount to the radiator bracket instead of running ties thru the fins. Have a march set up and plenty of clearance on my 347. I think I had posted some pics on this forum a while ago. Originally I got one out of boneyard and one of the fans burned out. I got a new one thru Rock auto - no problems to daye - couple years. I got the idea from the attached post. http://www.fordmuscleforums.com/cooling-articles/482048-junkyard-upgrade-dual-electric-fans.html
Trinitys 134 Report post Posted March 12, 2014 That's a bad ass write up! I wont be doing this real soon but i will so be doing. I'll also be replacing the radiator with a 24" when i do this. It used to run like a dream out in SOCAL but Texas is a bit warmer lol Thanks for the link! I searched Contour for other posts but didn't come up with anything. If you still have pics....id love to see them.
