970fizz 19 Report post Posted November 5, 2013 I posted this earlier this year on vmf, but I still need info on the swap. I have a 70 Mach 1 351c 4v with a c4 auto, ps pb. Looking to do a 4 speed toploader swap. I have a Toploader (rug-av1 with the hurts shifter and linkage) I have a 64 tooth bell housing and fly wheel, and a pb clutch Pedal assembly, still need a clutch, Z-Bar Linkage Kit What is a good street clutch for my car? Do they make a 351c z bar kit?? ( I can only find 351w kits) Will a 351w z bar work?
Wycked69 20 Report post Posted November 5, 2013 Yes, The 351W Z-bar set up is same as for 351C. I have a 68 FB with a built up 351C. I had installed a Zoom Clutch and hated it. It chatters. I installed a good quality Mcleod clutch and could not be happier. I got the clutch kit from Jegs # 673-75211 it comes with clutch disk, pressure plate, through out bearing, and alignment tool
970fizz 19 Report post Posted November 5, 2013 Ok thanks for the info, I was thinking that The 351w z bar would work. I'll look into that Clutch. What about fly wheel? I've had some people Tell me it needs to be a 28oz?
Wycked69 20 Report post Posted November 5, 2013 That's is correct, you will need a 164 tooth, 28oz "imbalance" flywheel. Some people use the term 28oz balance but they are referring to the same thing. There are cast and there are billet steel flywheels. Most all of the billet steel are SFI approved. You definitely should only consider a billet steel type for safety reasons
Burn 14 Report post Posted November 7, 2013 The 351w zbar is different than the 351c zbar, but could possibly work. See more info and pixs on this post http://www.1969stang.com/mustang/forum/showthread.php?t=7515&highlight=zbar I went with a Centerforce Dual friction clutch Kit DF700000. It works great on the street. No chatter and pedal pressure is easy too. Like
