miketyler 15 Report post Posted April 22, 2012 (edited) I got some pretty nice door panels from Dan but they have been dyed red. Looks like they were originally black. Is there a way to safely remove the previous dye job? Not sure what product has been applied. I hate to recoat to black if there's a way to remove the red and bring back the original black material. SELLERSRODSHOP 13 Report post Posted April 22, 2012 try lacquer thinner on a spot. should wash it right off there. rub it on a spot on the backside first to make sure it doesn't melt the vinyl.
gt69mach1 10 Report post Posted April 22, 2012 That will also dry the vinyl out. I would not do that. I do not think there is safe way to do it. I would just clean it up the best you can and redye them. my 2 cents, I have been in the upholstery trade 25 yrs
