BRADVAN 10 Report post Posted February 4, 2012 69 coupe basket case that i've posted on here about before. Had a terrible problem with right front brake always locking up that got resloved with a distubution block issue. Now i have had all new drum brakes installed (drums, wheel cylinders, shoes, springs, flexible brake hoses), also a new booster. Now the brakes feel just like the drums are out of round when I go to stop. If I keep my foot on the brakes and accelerate enough to pull forward, it also feels like the drums are out of round. Anybody ever heard of new drums straight out of the box being out of round? Thanks.
LindenBruce 27 Report post Posted February 4, 2012 Is your pedal pulsating? Yes, it is a good practice to have even new drums touched up on a brake lathe. If they were stored incorrectly since their initial manufacture they can definitely warp and cause issues. The bigger the drum the more likely they are to warp. stangnet33 88 Report post Posted February 4, 2012 I find drums worse than rotors when new.
BRADVAN 10 Report post Posted February 5, 2012 I have not noticed that the brake pedal pulses. I plan to have the front drums turned this next week. Thanks.
BRADVAN 10 Report post Posted February 13, 2012 Had the front drums turned and it fixed the problem. Hard to believe that the new drums would be out-of-round from the get-go.
