duraspark ignition problem

Recommended Posts

Hello to all, first timer here. Here is my situation. I have this 1969 mustang with a 351w in it, that I have converted to a duraspark ignition. New distributor and module. I can start it at the starter solenoid and sometimes with the ignition. Most of the time when I turn the key it will spin over and over then try to start when I let go of the key.

Sounds like you have a wrong wire tapped for your duraspark ignition box. Refer to this diagram to ensure you are using the correct wire for the Red duraspark wire: http://www.mustangsteve.com/conversion.html

Another helpful link: http://www.fordmuscleforums.com/all-ford-techboard/496563-duraspark-wiring-help.html

I would also verify that you are getting 12v at that red wire.
