69 mach 1 428 CJ header problem???

I have installed a set of hooker headers on my 69 mach 1 with the 428 cj engine. 16 bots a side kind of a pain but after getting them in the top front bolt on both side hits the shock towers. :scared: Any suggestion should I leave the top bolt out and risk a leak???? :helpsmilie::helpsmilie::helpsmilie:

The manifolds did not have them. I used a button head screw in that location and put a 3/16 spacer plate between the motor mount and the engine block.

I see that happen a lot. It did on mine when I had a 428cj years ago.

or break out the die grinder and relieve the shock tower slightly to clear. I have a 390 S code 69 coupe and that is what was done for the headers to clear.

I should follow the die grinding on mine was only on the top edge of the reinforced section on the lower shock tower. DIdn't take much but allows the 390 to shake without any impacting on the shock tower. Without the relief, I think the engine probably was tapping the shock tower on hard acceleration. Now all it does is give you that cool torque effect.
