  1. I've been posting on VMF but thought it was past time to put up a few pics of my work in progress 69 coupe up here. Not finished yet but getting closer all the time. Not going for a concours resto (can't afford that) but trying for a fun weekend power cruiser.
  2. hard to price without pics but to throw out a range, I'd say if it runs and doesn't have major issues with suspension, steering or electrical, I'd say $10-$15k just depending on condition.
  3. if you want to start small, you could always go for a new intake and 4 barrel carb. Then add headers and a good free flowing dual exhaust system since those mods go hand in hand. Won't turn it into a rocket but will be a noticable difference and not too expensive. Past that, it is just up to your budget. I'd recommend a good electronic ignition as the next step since all those mods are very easy to do yourself except for the exhaust which might require a shop but isn't too expensive.
  4. I would agree with the 15k comment as it sits assuming no major rust issues. Shame it doesn't have the original numbers matching engine but still a nice looking mustang!
  5. If the problem is mainly at idle, I'd bet it is a low vacuum issue. To test it, try advancing the idle screw to 1300 or so and see if brakes work better. If so, then you might have to get a vacuum boost to get good braking at low rpms. Having said that, I still always suggest a good bleeding of the brakes before someone does everything else. For bleeding brakes, I highly recommend the mityvac. I have one and it makes it so easy! Also it is a US made product which is a nice bonus. If you buy a mityvac, be sure to get the new improved model with the swivel angled gauge and improved handle.
  6. I agree with S code, it could be alot of things. One simple thing to check is the vacuum line for the boost. Are you getting adequate vacuum in that line? Try this simple test, with engine turned off, put pressure on the brake pedal and then start the car. Does the pedal do down some when the engine fires up?
  7. I should follow the die grinding on mine was only on the top edge of the reinforced section on the lower shock tower. DIdn't take much but allows the 390 to shake without any impacting on the shock tower. Without the relief, I think the engine probably was tapping the shock tower on hard acceleration. Now all it does is give you that cool torque effect.
  8. or break out the die grinder and relieve the shock tower slightly to clear. I have a 390 S code 69 coupe and that is what was done for the headers to clear.
  9. aftermarket tilt column is the other answer but they are not cheap.
  10. hey is that ford GT for real? I have always wanted to check one of those out. So how does it drive? Inquiring minds wanna know.
  11. no pic but as a daily driver I have a honda civic 4 door. It gets 38mpg on the highway so very practical transportation. Saves me alot of money in gas every year which helps me justify owning my mustang.
  12. I have an electric fuel pump on my 390 with a holly 750 doublepumper and it isn't too noisy at all. I went simple and just mounted it in the engine compartment rather than back by the tank. I also went the not so great route of wiring it wtih the on switch with the key. Before I went with the electric pump, I had to really crank the motor to fill up the bowls so it would fire up. Now, I just turn the key to the on position and wait a few seconds so it can fill up the bowls and motor cranks over first try almost every time. The downside is I have to turn the key off to shut the pump off which I know isn't the right way to do it so I need to add an inertia switch for safety purposes.
  13. having the car running correctly will def help you sell it. Alot of mustang buyers don't want to spend much money on cars with engine trouble.
  14. I see that type of scam on craigs list all the time. I used to flag them when I saw them but got tired of messing with them so leave that up to someone else. That one is a scam for sure.
  15. different parts of the country have different prices but around my area (dallas) a car like yours usually sells for around 5k in that condition. In fact, I looked at one very similar to yours and it was 5k in ready to drive home condition. Only thing it lacked was a current inspection to be a daily driver. I was seriously considering buying it until I came across my S code coupe and it was love at first sight.
