indianfiremach 170 Report post Posted August 6, 2007 Hey all, I picked up a set of 05 GT wheels, 17x8's this week off craigslist. The price and location were just too good to pass up. I've read on the mustang forums that people are using 1.5'' spacers on their 65/66's to mount them. I was wondering if it would take smaller spacers on my 69 since the axle is wider then 65/66? I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of 1.5'' spacers on ebay, but don't want to get the wrong ones. Hopefully someone on here can help!
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted August 6, 2007 Axle width does not determine it as everything grows around that. The optimal backspace for an 8" rim depending on how wide a tire you put on it (I would suggest a 245/45-17 up front max) would be 4.5". Measure the backspace of the GT wheel, subtract and that is your spacer.
