Anyone running late model factory takeoff wheels?

Recommended Posts

I was originally thinking of new 17" aftermarket wheels and tires for the 70 coupe. But I've seen some people are running new factory style wheels on thier classics. From what I've been able to find out, they should be a bolt on, but maybe a spacer is required? Not sure about that. It does seem that I could get 4 almost new rims and tires for almost half the cost of all new aftermaket knock offs. I really wanted some chrome rims, but I guess a satin finish is a good compromise if I can save $500. At least with those wheels I could upgrade to the modern mustang front disks and have proper clearence.

Any thoughts?

If you want the O.E bullit wheels you need a 1" spacer that makes the +24 offset +0.

You can also buy those knock off replica wheels with the +0 offset with no need of spacers.

I got a set of chrome bullit wheels from them with +0 offset for a 66 mustang and they are good quality.

Yea, it looks like a 1" for the 94-04 style and like a 1.5" spacer for the 05-07 style. I have no problem buying replicas. I was looking at these:

But then I saw some ads for new or almost new for like $400-$600 including tires. But if I have to spend $250+ on spacers, then it doesn't look so good, although it's still cheaper. I kind like the idea of having chrome instead of painted though, just for that extra "bling".

I have factory 05 wheels from a 6 cyl on my 69 Grande. They required a 1.25" spacer on the front. I also put the spacer on the back to keep the track the same.

I bought the wheel and tire combo from a Ford dealer since they had swapped them for a buyer of the 05 Mustang for $350 and I bought my bolt on spacers on ebay and only paid $65 a pair. Been on the car for 1.5 year with approx 5K miles and no issues.
