1969 Mach1 with 390

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if you'll could help me out? Can anyone tell me what engine options this car had? Like what carb. came on this car? I'm trying to figure out if the car is a original like I was told. One guy is telling me that's the wrong carb. He said it looks like the carb. off a 428. I'm hoping that he's wrong. It seems that many people are clueless that they made a 69 Mach with a 390.

Thanks

First off, what are the first few digits in your VIN? if it has an S, then it is a true 390 car such as 9F03S. There should be an aluminum tag on the carberator. Give me the numbers off that tag or you can google those numbers to give you what motor it was off of. Another place to find out ALOT of info from 390 gurus is the S code registry. Try here: http://www.scodemustang.com/

I too am not knowlegeable with 390 cars but the registry site should provide some more help.

The guy I was talking to about it said that the motor was original, but it looked like someone had used 428CJ parts on the motor. He said he really didn't know, but that's what he thought. The Vin # is 9R02S150636 I'll look for the number on the carb. Thanks

Found this site but not sure how trustworthy it is considering they mention that there was a 390 in a mustang in 70 but not in 69. But it does list the c9zf-f for a 390 with auto and a c9zf-e for a stick. A few other threads on fomoco.com and stangnet refer to the -f as being a 390 with auto but i don't have an actual manual to look it up.
