  1. I don't think there's anyway a starter could bend it like that. the engine fired then kicked back. ever sense I've owned the truck you could just bump the starter and it would start. just hard to believe the damage done in just a split second! crank bent so bad if you even try to tighten down the main caps you can't turn the crank.

  2. After checking on a few used engines for my truck I've decided to just buy a Remanufactured engine for it. Ford has the best warranty  3 yrs. with unlimited miles and they will take my core with a cracked block with bent Rod and crank. no one else will that's $300-$400 more. anyone have any experience with a ford Remanufactured engine? wonder if it's done by Ford or if they use a outside vendor? anyone know?

  4. "I Should Have Known Better" was a big hit for THE BEATLES in july 1964 they made a ton of money from it. it was a big hit for Rick in 2015 but it's gonna cost a ton of money for me. for someone that has made a living from fixing cars most of his life I did know better. my truck has had a leaking head gasket for a while burning a little coolant I don't drive it much only when I need a truck was gonna fix it when I had the time. famous last words. so last week I decided to fix it before my luck ran out. it sat for maybe 3 weeks it was running fine the last time I used it. so I went to start it. it fired then the motor kicked back broke the front of the starter housing off  got another starter before putting it on tried to turn the motor over. it was locked up so I thought great must have over heated & ceased up even tho the temp gauge was in the normal range nope! we pulled the motor out with the trans because I couldn't get to the nuts off the flywheel took the heads off there it was the gasket let go while it was setting pressure had built up forced coolant to fill the cylinder you could see the rust mark it broke off the piston skirt bent the rod and 6" long crack in the block it's all scrap now. didn't have time to fix it when I should have but found the time to pull the motor & trans now right when I need the truck. learn from my mistake if something isn't right get it fixed! add the crank to the list it's bent also

  5. Brian did you use the TMI Premium seat foam with the listing wires molded in? I know alot of people like the american cushion ind. seat foam. I was gonna go with the sport II  upholstery now I'm not so sure. I've lowered a few  seat platforms before but there's no way you can remove 2 1/4" anyone else using the TMI sport II ?

  6. anyone wanting a conversion Hurst shifter like the one cj's sells. I checked the web. the  price range is from $97-$130 I just bought one from a seller on e-bay for $85  seller's name is "Hurst-Shifters" go figure! he had 10 of them he's down to 5 now his price is $97 or best offer I made a offer of $85. it was accepted right then. I just did a search for Hurst Shifter 5388022 and found him. I wouldn't wait if you want one. this is for the T-5 only, will not work with the TKO 500 or 600

  7. your on the right track with the heat but your getting it way to hot with a torch. use a heat gun and putty knife heat a small area a little at a time try your putty knife it won't take you long to figure out how hot you should get it. the stuff will roll right off with the putty knife when you get it at the right temp. I've been doing it this way for over 30 years. the trick is to not over heat it and you will have a very little mess to clean up. if you don't have a heat gun you can buy a cheap wagner gun for $20-$25 some hair dryers get hot enough but you will burn it up before your done

  8. thanks guys. that should make it easy enough. my car came with the standard 2 spoke black wheel so I had no idea what the chrome was made of. I've collected  just  about everything else to change it over to  the deluxe interior. I have all the dark walnut dash and trim now I want to change it over to the teak wood seeing as it was built in october of 68  I'm told the early cars had the teak wood. knowing me I'll change my mind 2 or 3 times before I'm ready to put the interior in it
