Did all 1969 Mach1's come with the molding below the bottom of the door? Who carries the best repo molding?

Getting ready to take the stang down to my buddies shop for new suspension parts, springs, shocks, LCA UCA. PO sprayed undercoating inside the fender well. I was thinking of removing the front fenders to clean out the undercoating and I assume it will be easier to work on the suspension without the fenders, so how big a pain is it to remove them? I will be painting the car this fall.

So my 408 stroker is on the way what carb should I run? What are you guys running on your 408's? It will be a weekend driver nothing more!
Thanks again for all your help. Steve

I get my 351W back as a 408 stroker next week it will be backed by a rebuilt FMX tranny. The car has factory power steering. I would like to use a set of JBA shorty headers. Anyone had experience with these headers regarding fit in a 69? and how easy was the installation?

I’m getting ready to rebuild my 351W into a 408 stroker for my 69 stang. I would like to keep a mechanical fuel pump and upgrade to a Holley pump. A friend suggested I go with an electric pump, I would prefer to stay with the mechanical pump, any issues with this?

Thanks for all of your input, I think I'm staying with my drum brakes, getting new drums and better shoes.

What rear disc brake system will work with Magnum 500 wheels 15x8 with the standard 4.50 off set? I understand there is a fit issue with some of the units?

I would talk to Dan at Chockstang you might want to go with factory stuff, a problem if you go to Borgesen is most if not all tilt steering set ups will not work!

This is the kit I'm looking at, it will put my compression just under 10 to I with my reworked cast cast iron heads( I'm staying with my orig heads) looking for around 400 to 425 hp have weined intake and holley 650 double pumper

I'm looking atali several kits from CHP performance they seem to have quatity part at several price points also they are located in Southern California where I live so I can go ask them questions, I noticed that several of their kits offer rod lenghts of 6.200 and 6.250 with the same pistons any ideas why? I just want to gather as much info from you guys as I can before I go talk to them, thanks for all your help!

I posted this on VMF, thought I'd post it here also in case anyone has more thoughts on the topic!
I want to rebuild my tired 1969 351W into a 408 stroker. I'm concerned that the kits are all for the 9.50 deck and may be to high in the block if I have to have any re-surfacing of the block? Would I be better with a 393 stroker set up? Don't want to loose the cubes but I also don't want to run into the hassle of to tall of pistons, any thoughts?

Send the pictures to Dan at chockostang@msn.com he will be able to answer any and all questions for you!

Anybody running a fan clutch on their stang?
-
Anybody have any experience with JBA headers for a 351W I think they are their 1653 series.
-
They look great! Did you go with 14 or 15 inch rims? What tire size are you running?
-
Wycked,
I just seems hard to find parts for the FMX to strengthen it who makes the best shift kit?
-
So I'm about to get my 351W back as a stroker 408 going to put out around 425-450 hp. I still have my stock FMX trans, keeping my 3.25 posi. The stang is not a daily driver, weekends around town, few trips all under 50 miles. I'm not sure the FMX will handle the increase HP, so should I go with a built C-4 or C-6, Will a AOD handle the increased HP? I understand it can get rather pricey having a AOD built.Would like to hear from guys that are running a 408 and what trans they are using?

Anybody running a Edelbrock Air Gap intake in their 69 with a 351W? My concerm is with it sitting up higher is their an issue with the air cleaner hitting the bottom of the hood?
Thanks, Steve

I'm thinking of installing the Edelbrock airgap dual quad manifold on my 351W, I just need to hear from someone who has installed it. I just need to know if it will fit under the stock hood and any installation issues. I don't need to hear the pros and cons of this set up I know lots of guys think it's not a good idea, but I like the looks of it!

But my question is will they fit under the hood, not is it what you would do. I like the looks, not building a racer. When I was younger my uncle had a 57 Tbird E code 312 with the dual quad setup ever since then I've wanted a car with dual carbs for looks.
-
Thanks for the info. the engine I'm building is a stroker 408 with major work on the stock heads JBA headers 400+ hp. My question still is does anyone know if the edelbrock air gap dual quad set up with their 500 cfm carbs will fit under the stock hood?

So I need to replace the door hinges on the Mach1, lots of slop in them. Are the repo hinges any good? I was wonderinf if their is anyone who rebuilds door hinges, my thinking is that original would be best.
