  1. Every '70 Mach I've seen has the exact same lever setup. ??

Even the new seat covers for '70 mach shows it the same way.....

    http://www.mustanginteriorparts.com/product/43-72020-Comfortweave.html

Not that the year of seat between the two cars really makes much of a visual difference.

Nope, those are '69 seats and to some people, it does make a difference. There were a lot more high backed buckets in 1970, so the '69 models (the lever in the middle of the side, not the bottom) are actually more desirable. If you were closer, I'd buy them as I could use a nice set of '69 seats for my Mach.

  2. The Marti Report identifies this car as an H Code Vehicle, 351 2v. I think all 351 2v cars came with single exhaust, therefore no exhaust cutouts on the rear valance. The Sticker on the Air Cleaner says it's a 351 4v. Maybe the motor has been replaced and dual exhaust added.

Or at least the intake manifold was "upgraded" to 4-V.

I also wonder if it can be bought for the Forum price... I sold my very stock M-Code GT for $20K in May. It was a very nice car with more options, and I felt happy to get that price. The eBay price doesn't appear realistic IMO, if the car wouldn't sell for the past year for $22K.

I like the white and blue...wish he was interested in trades--I'd like to have this one!

  3. The actual cable from the carburetor bracket to the accelerator pedal us usually not the problem. It's the worn-out bushings and such in your carburetor itself. If things aren't too bad, swapping the return spring for a stronger one, or using two, will solve the problem. You can just go to Napa or Schuck's and get a multi-pack of different diameter and length springs for a few $$$, then find one that is a little stronger than the current one to replace it with.

I think dieseling can be timing or idle speed.

  4. Honestly? It was all I could do to sell my '69 351W Grande for $5,000 6 months ago in the spring (and I had over $7,500 in that thing)...and fall/winter is a harder time to sell. I would guess the car is worth around $4,000. Not good times for getting any return on the $$$ put into old cars, unfortunately.

  5. What size wheels and tires are you running on the Red one in you sig. They look really "Fat".

They are very "fat!" It's too bad that the wheels are so crappy--I'll probably try and figure out the size and back spacing of the wheels and buy a new set. This, of course, after I actually drive this car and make sure they don't rub.

I'll have to go to storage and see what size the tires are for you, tho, as I don't know off the top of my head.

  6. OK, I searched and can't find the tire size post. Costco is having a sale and I need to get a set of tires on my green Mach before it goes out for a serious front-end overhaul and final alignment.

The set-up is a stock suspension 1969 with the factory 14" chrome styled steel wheels. I am not going to lower the front or modify it in any way. I prefer the fattest tires possible w/o rubbing (obviously), and I like the looks of a tall sidewall, that fills the wheel well but is not freaky looking. No air shocks to jack up the back and increase clearance.

Opinions/recommendations so I can order and put this issue to rest (for me at least)? The car I am working on is not the red Mach in my sig pic, which has 15" wheels and the fattest tires I've ever owned on a Mustang. BTW, this red Mustang is dead and waits patiently in my garage to be resurrected.

  7. BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS!!! (or should I say want to be business)

Halls Restoration Service out of Campobello SC.

I sent this individual a rimblow steering wheel for restoration along with a NOS horn switch. When I received it back after numerous threats etc. the wheel was terrible and my NOS horn switch damaged beyond repair. Looked like he took a screw driver to the switch and sliced it up to bits. Now I am stuck with a wheel that is in worse shape then when I originally sent it along with a NOS horn switch that is no longer useable.

This guy has a fancy website but believe me he does not deliver. He promises but does not follow through with them. He has more excuses then there are cars on the road. Where is my refund you promised to send Jack!!!!

Watch out for this guy he is a scammer!

He won't give you a refund. You'll ultimately end up doing a "charge back" on your credit card (if you used one); if not, good luck getting your money back. He's bad news.

  8. i can tell you from experience the 235/60-14's are really too small. in fact if you go with the "plus 1" sizing rule the size you'd be going to from the 225/70-14 is a 235/60-15, which is exactly 1 inch (or more) taller than the same size in a 14", it will effect your final gear ratio to the ground as well as your speedometer.

So, what you're saying, is that the 235/60s are actually shorter than 225/70s? I only have the stock chrome styled steel 14" wheels that I going to use.

  9. the correct size tire for a 69 with 14" wheels sould be either a 215/75-14 or 225/70-14. a 235/70-14 is probably going to be a little tall and the sidewall will flex like the dickens, i'm also not sure if anyone even makes a 235/70-14 at least i've never seen one and i used to sell and install tires for a living, among other things. if there is a 235/70-14 available i'd guess it's a fairly new size or only available from one or two companies.

also, original mustang wheels would be either 14x6 for standard cars or 14x7 for 428cj cars (this only with the 12 slot GT wheels for 69)

I looked again--the car I'm talking about has 235/60s all around.

  10. I had the Magnum wheels on my 69 before putting on the 07 take-offs. I ran a 225/60/14 on the front and a 235/60/14 on the back. I had no problems and it had the correct stance

I like to be able to rotate the tires around... I wonder if the 235s up front would be alright?

  11. Probably something around a 225/70 would work. Oh, and the stock rims are not 7 inches wide.

I am not that worried about my speedo. How about 235/70s? The 70s are wider than the 60 series, right? I have a hard time understanding what these numbers mean.
