  1. I'm in the same boat. I finished the wheel repairs fine. I welded plastic from another mustang wheel into the cracks on mine, figuring the same plastic might not crack in the future, being the same material. I'll practice painting the wood grain on the old wheel too. Looks like the water transfer place isn't taking any new orders. Great looking graphics. Nat
  2. Great pictures, thanks. On my bucket list too. We have a retired Chance Vought product engineer here, 94 years young. He still has drawings of the corsair he helped design. Very cool guy. Nat ATP A&P
  3. I'm not sure how the switch fits in the groove? Mine was absent when I found the wheel. I'll try my hand at woodgraining as well. I made my crack repair with an old two spoke mustang wheel I had kicking around. I welded the plastic into the groove, filed it down to what you see. I'm hoping that by using the same type of plastic, I'll avoid future cracks. Good info on the switch, thanks. Nat
  4. I started repairing my steering wheel a while back, thought some might like to see a couple pictures. It had one bad crack in the rim and the plastic under the pad was missing a couple ears. I have a total of $100 into this wheel so far. The rim blow switch will cost that much alone. I also picked up a 1970 gas tank for $50, NIB on CL today. Slow but steady progress. Nat
  5. Has anyone tried a 67/68 Shelby lower front valance on a 69? I love how they look. Just thinking out loud, dreaming of ideas for my restomod project.

Pak, I'm up in Sunday River area, but I'll be traveling your way all the time. I'll start my new job in the fall at PSM. Look out for the a white 86 GT vert. Nat

    Another newbie

Hello all, A newbie here from Maine. I've been a 69/70 mustang fan since 1970, when my uncle brought home a new 70 MachI. He gave his little nephew a ride that he never forgot! I've had a number of mustangs over the years. First was a 70 vert that was all rusted out, so it got parted out (back before there were any replacement panels). Then I bought a 70 convertible which I still have. Next was an 85GT, I rolled it, repaired it, and eventually sold it. A couple of years ago I bought a badly rusted out 69 convertible. I plan on doing a restomod with it, it'll go on an 89 Lincoln MkVII chassis (which I have). Two years ago I found a 95 mustang convertible base on Craigslist, which I bought for my wife, for $500. This winter I had the opportunity to buy a 1986 GT convertible for little money. So my coral is pretty full. I look forward to getting to know everyone, and catching up on all the great restoration threads. Nat
