  1. We again attempted to put the drive train in the car tonight with no success haha. We made it to the clutch and pressure plate and as soon as we started torquing the bolts down to 35 ft. lbs, which we though was the proper spec for the bolts, we broke a bolt off in the flywheel. After we drilled it out we moved on to another and it started stretching so we just decided to buy some new bolts and find out the proper spec for sure.
  2. That's a very cool idea Ash! Hope it works out for you. I'd really like to see some pictures if you end up going that route.
  3. Thank you, but are you sure that's not flywheel bolts?
  4. Does anyone know the proper torque specs for pressure plated to fly wheel bolts on a 351W? We went to put my pressure plate on tonight and broke what I think was a factory bolt off in the flywheel. None of our books have the torque specs in it so my Dad googled it and came up with 35 ft. lbs but that must be wrong or we had some weak bolts. Thanks, Drew
  5. Sharp looking car! Thanks for the pic, maybe your springs will settle. I also have that problem. I bought a factory replacement set from mustangs unlimited about 5 years ago but the car has still not been driven.
  6. Great looking car! Do you have 15x7 all around or are they staggered?
  7. Thanks for the info! Would you mind posting a picture? Thanks, Drew
  8. I just ordered a set of 15x7/15x8 magnum 500s with 4.25 and 4.5 backspacing. I know I have asked this question on here before but I'd like to know what you guys think about my tire size selection. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with 255/60/15 bfg's on the rear and I am debating on running either 225/60/15 or 235/60/15 on the front. Which do you guys think would look the best with my staggered wheels? Do you think the 235's will bulge a lot more than the 255's on the back or should I just go with 225's on the front? I like the fat tire look an wish I could go wider on the back also but I think that a 275/60 on the back will be to Tall because I don't want them rubbing. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks, Drew
  9. I'm running a top loader 4 speed with a 3.70 gear and most likely going to set the limiter at 6500. It will be a while before the car is going to be driven but I am planning on getting a set of multihole wheels and possibly 275/50/15 mt's so that they will fit on my dads cobra replica also.
  10. Thanks for the very helpful info everyone! I've made up my mind and I am going to get another set of wheels and go with some Mickey thompsons. Still haven't decided on the size yet but mt's for sure.
  11. Thanks I am too! My car did not come from the factory with A/C so im going with an aftermarket kit. So far I am planning on using Vintage Air but I could end up changing my mind. I like the idea of having a clean looking system with all new parts especially in my Black car because it gets pretty toasty and humid here in the summer. I have also thought about mounting my compressor low out of sight but I am not sure I am going to go through with it. I will most likely end up putting the compressor wherever it is recommended just to make things go smoother. As for electric power steering I do not know much about it besides that my truck has it on it but it does seem like a good idea instead of the leaky factory system. As of now I am using manual steering on mine because that's what the car already has and is in good shape. Although one day I may end up going with an aftermarket kit. Hope everything is going good on your project, Drew
  12. Well Edelbrock still has not got back in touch with us. Last we heard they told us that their would be no possibility of getting money back but they may replace the intake. We took pictures and sent them to a rep so now we are just waiting. I decided to go ahead and buy a new intake from summit racing that is the same part number (7581) as the old one and it fits perfectly. If Edelbrock ever does send me a new one I am planning on putting it in the box that the new one from summit came in and sending it back to get my refund. Maybe it will work out. If not I guess i've wasted 200 bucks.
  13. That's a very good idea Ash! That is what I always do when I disassemble something but I did not take this one apart haha. As far as I know I should not have any more body work to do (I hope!). So far I am focusing on getting the engine in and running, then planning on moving on to Vintage Air and interior.
  14. Thanks Ash! So far everything is going pretty good except for a few minor things. Its hard to find all of the Nuts and Bolts that have been out since the early 90s when the car was taken apart haha.
  15. Last night we were going to drop the engine and trans in but we ran into a few problems. Out of the 5 pilot bushings we had none of them were correct so we are getting one on the way soon. Here's some pic's.
  16. Thanks Brooke! That's very helpful. How air do you runnin them?
  17. Well that's good to hear! I wasn't sure if they would work with a manual. What type of massaging did you have to do? (by the way you have got a badass 69!)
  18. Hey guys, I seem to be having a hard time finding a set of headers to run on my 69. I am about to put my engine and trans into the car and I am looking for a set of good flowing headers. I currently have a set of hedman that have 1 5/8 primarys and 3 inch collectors. I don't think they are going to be big enough for my application. I am running a top loader 4 speed behind my 408w so I need something that my z-bar will clear. So far this is all that I have found. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-6208HKR/ Any info would be greatly appreciated, I know that I cannot be the only person out there that has ran into this problem. Thanks, Drew
  19. sportsroof69, did the 275/50/15s look good on there as far as filling the fender or did they look a little to short? I am also debating on size for the rear and so far 255/60/15 is the only one that I know will fit for sure without having to roll my fender lip. Safety is also a concern so I may end up getting another set of wheels and putting the DRs on them if I can decide on a size. Thanks, Drew
  20. What size did you have? That doesn't sound to bad! That's about what I am looking to get out of them. Were they just terrible in the rain or could I drive them in the rain if I got caught in a shower? I am really looking for something that I can get traction with and not just spin when I want to go and so far all I have been able to come up with is drag radials. Does anybody have any suggestions as far as a street tire for a 15 inch wheel? Thanks, Drew
  21. How short of tread life are we talking? I know it probably varies depending on the tire. 2k miles? 5k? 10k?
  22. Thanks for the info guys, I'm having a hard time finding any tires for a 15 inch that have 200 tread (besides drag slicks). Some tire manufacturers don't even show that spec. Any ideas?
  23. Thanks gsxrken, What do you mean by soft 200 treadwear tires?
