  1. I have a Powermaster also and it looks like the same case as mine. It's been 6 years and I have lost the info on it having moved twice. It is a one wire and hooks right to the starter solenoid. Never had a problem with it. It's either a 100 or 140 amp. I had to make a different spacer behind it due to my aftermarket heads but no big deal.

Power master on my own point of view has the quality needed for an alternator. Im using it for the past several years and still working on my stang. On the other hand, i believe that fouling plug is due to vacuum leak based on my experience....

  2. Working on a 69 with a 351W stroked to a 408 with only the MSD and Taurus fan to contend with electrically. The car does not have A/C and no serious sound system. It has a brand new 60A alternator of the stock configuration and I think that the stock wire from the charging post on the back of the alternator is too small diameter wise. I believe the wire that is attached to the charging post on the back of the alternator goes into the harness and is spliced into a couple of wires of which one puts power to the fuse block and I assume another goes back to the post on the battery side of the starter solenoid. Can I simply remove the wire off the back of the alternator and cut it back to that splice? From there I want to install an 8 ga. wire from the charnging post on the back of the alternator to the post on the battery side of the starter solenoid. Everything is okay right now but I think this will help the fan and MSD and keep the battery charged.

Any thoughts are welcomed. We talked over installing a 3G alternator but at this point there is no need for anything more than the 60A stocker.

This is actually just half the job. I recently discovered that When you add a high power sound system, you need to upgrade all of the associated alternator wiring, engine grounding, and battery which is another thing related to this issue.Anyway, there are a lot of stocks that could fit older mustangs just like the one most of us were driving.

  3. These must then be Drum Brake Spindles ('66-69 same on Fairlane/Mustang) as the disc brake spindles are different between '66-67 & '69 (assume due to earlier 4 piston vs. single piston calipers). '68-69 Fairlane & Mustang (except B302/429) all used the same disc & drum spindles.

Looking in my Ford Interchange Manual, '69 B302 & B429 each had unique splindles and neither carried over to '70 ... so there are 3 possible '69 Disc Brake Spindles which got consolidated to 1 in '70. Also, both disc & drum splindles changed again in for '71-73.

I know im kindda late with this but just a heads up with you guys. I had the same thing with regards to the spindles but the dealership replace the part and now working good on my vehicle. I have heard several issues about this but the wrong move was that they just replace the part without asking the dealership.

  4. I'm selling the right (passenger side) splash shield that goes on the back of the headlight bucket. I ordered both but found my original for the right. Asking $30 + shipping.

Forgive me for this bump but just took place the my front splash shield has a crack and of course it badly needs replacement. I have no idea what make it broken when i was surprised to see it the morning after we had a party last week. Just asking if you still have stocks for the said part. Or probably just send a PM directly on my account or directly on this thread.

  5. found this on a truck site.... thanks to ccerniglia on ford truck enthusiasts site

Sorry for reviving this up. Just a heads up...about the new ford engine. It just happened that im looking for an engine swap but no idea what might be the characteristics i should for...anyone here has further experience with the same thing?

  6. Friend of mine has a 92 f150 with 351w/c6 trans. iam getting the entire truck for $100!!! engine has about 60000kms and was replaced by local ford dealer .trans was rebuilt at the same time.i just couldnt pass that up as engine alone is worth well over $100 .plan is to remove efi harness, ecm, engine, trans and swap everything to my 69 coupe.once i have all the efi worked out then i can stroke it to 408 later on.

is there anything else i can use from this truck? frt disc brakes, rear end, etc???? also it has huge truck intake so iam gonna have to replace it with 351 based mustang intake.any idea if that will clear stock 69 hood??

Excuse me for reviving this up but i had been on the same thing several months ago but just a simple problem since there are a lot of stores that offer stuff for ford...aside from mustang. you can also find truck parts out there for f150. As far as i know, there is after market stuff which would help you in saving money plus there is a manual included to ease the repair job...

  7. Well, I know I got this late but Mustangs got the GT version of the 390 FE engine, which had a different exhaust manifold bolt pattern in comparison with the regular 390's. On the other hand I have asked on the FE Forum though been hanging with those guys for over 10 yrs, some of the factory stock and resto guys will know if the manifolds physically bolt on i will send you the details.

  8. Hello,,,, Will the spindles off a 69 Ford Ranchero fit the 69 mustang fastback. I found a complete set of disk brakes locally and want to buy them , if they will fit.

This is a late in time discussion but had tried installing a ford ranchero spindles but it doesn't directly fit unless you have the appropriate kit. there are actually such stuff in some online parts stores out there and you have the right to choose. MikeStang knows further and yes a granada disc would do.

  9. I know im late with this but im one of the hot rods afficionados out there and i love seeing those stuff. BTW how much would be the total cost if ever i would be planning to have the same thing. Here in our place, they would appear to be that rare and eye catching. Anyway thanks for sharing this and i would love seeing more of this.

Wait a minute. Sorry for reviving this up but i am using the same stuff and now having a problem. There it have the broken side and i need a welding job for it.As much as possible, I don't want it to take to a shop because I am saving money. I am wondering if the original poster successfully did what he wanted to do.

  13. Anyone have experience with the currently available hoods for the 69? The Ford tooling hood is quite a bit more expensive and I just don't know if it's worth the extra $$ or not. The hood would be laying on both right and left reproduction fenders anyway.

Has anyone seen or worked with both and have an opinion as to how much difference there is?

Thank you in advance for any input.

This kindda late thread but i once switch to anodized alum but having issue. So far, i use the original tooling hood and bring my mustang back in track. I heard anodized or chromed alum could not be re polished and another thing is that they are low quality...

  14. Thank you.

I was thinking "maybe I should clean out the trunk today"

I will peek in the trunk, and see if I can find it. I will probably be under the car today as well.

Awesome info. Apologize for reviving this back. I know im late about this but the same thing had took place on my mustang (second hand). The thing is that I've noticed that every time i go fill up my tank, i have to fill it up at a very slow pace, otherwise the nozzle stops pumping. would it be the fuel tank or the sending unit?

  15. Hello,

Anybody have complete (brackets, lenses bezel) side marker lights from a 1970 mustang/cougar?

I need a set as I didn't realize the 70 were different then the 69.

    Thanks,

    Marc Cramer

Just got one delivered from one of the online shops out there which includes brackets and lenses but for the cougar i guess, the local junks would be the solution to your problem.

  16. I needed to replace the drivers side headlight on my 69 Fastback. Simple enough right? After installing the new light I noticed it wiggled in the bucket. Question ... is the tension spring supposed to be connected to the tab on the headlight ring, the slot in the bucket, or both? When I removed the passenger side light to compare it was not attached to the tab on the headlight ring, only the bucket, and that light is secure in the adjusting bucket. Two lights installed differently! Anybody know the proper way the light should secured in a 69? Also, what is the secret technique for pulling the tension spring into place? Thanks

I know im late about this but those connections that plug into the tail might be a light bucket and can be junk. I had wiggled mine and now working. Yours may be fine.... but try putting everything back together and rotating/ pulling in/out slightly on the tail light bucket plug. worked for me.

  17. Does anyone make a new deluxe door panel with provision for speakers?

my doors have the hole for speakers, my ratty panels have clean holes - but none of the replacement panels i see mention it? anyone have a source for them?

who has some experience with interior kits?

who offers the best bang for the buck?

This is my first post actually and sorry for having it late in time. im just wondering whether the doors panels for other ford models could be also used with stang. I have seen a lot of deluxe interiors but have different panels.
