  1. 69machine...I didn't really know how to break it down and wanted to keep it simple, and although ebay only goes 5-7 deep in rootable catagories - Your example gives me some more thought. Would everyone think that way is more defined and easier to use??
  2. well, the car catagories are: 40's-50's Classics 60's Horsepower 70's Muscle Late 70's Classics 80's EFI 90's Powerblock Hot Rods Classic Trucks Volkswagon ..thats just the cars, you click a link, the sub catagory comes up with make, select it and it takes you to all the models of the brand. Parts will be a bit different. Just to make everyone feel alittle safer, I am an LLC, and there will be all of the same terms on my auction site as ebay for protection for the buyer, and the seller, as well as myself. There will be a end user license agreement just like ebay -and boilerplate seller contract just like ebay. Of course there will be feedback and rebuttal. Again this is a ebay "clone" if you will, but is however a site built with the integrity of most people being honest hot rodders out there. And yes there will be a bad apple here and there...but you also take that risk everywhere else. I have set up accounts with the reg gateways of Visa/MC, Paypal and Goog checkout. These are the 3rd parties to help manage the transactions, and you will have the protection of their services should you use them in your payment options. I have decided not to put in the barter option. That is (as I'm finding out) a really grey area and won't be able to protect the site, seller or buyer. I may put in a trade section. Fees you ask? well lets see..free to post 8 pictures and most of us sell just one part here or there. To list on my site..just $5 -you decide if you would like to pay before or after the auction. Got more parts? Say a console, two things of chrome trim, and a steering wheel.. prob $8 total. Wanna run a store? got that covered too.. Listing a car under 5k? $15 total -over 5k is just $20 Dealers and parts houses as well as various forums get discounts too. I want to make a resourceful site for all of us in the hobby. I know I may be swimming upstream, but I gotta try..
  3. RPM...WOOPS...sometimes I get'a typin too fast! LOL!!
  4. I agree, but to start I have secure hosted SQL (not godaddy either)and can adjust to dedicated as traffic increases. Just wanna see how it goes couple months first.
  5. I've been a member here for awhile now and have always heard the frustration about it and I've even delt with it firsthand. So, I jumped in with both feet. I bought my domain names and had some software developed, waiting on new pc to arrive. Still finishing legal mumbo-jumbo and hosting and other little stuff like that.. This was also born out of frustration of trying to restore various cars over the years, I got tired of craigslist and chasing all the dead end posts or hearing from scamer's that were out of the country right now. As far as ebay is concerned, aren't you tired of paying fees on top of fees -to list and to sell, to post pics and whatever else? Well I was so I decided to do something about it. Do I want to compete with them? Nope..I'm a car guy. And I just want to make our hobby, be it a hemi or pinto, a bit easier on the pocketbook. What about the forums classifieds you say? Not tryin to beat that either..it's a great source for stuff. I just have this idea to make a better auction style site for all of us in the classic car hobby be it ford-chevy etc..and I think as I spead some word to various forums as well as some marketing, I can make this well recieved and grow. The site will contain some of the things that first brought you to ebay when it was simple. Based on a working mans wallet, everything will have a one time flat fee based on an item, plus some other neat things like a barter/trade feature. For example; to list a car on the site, it would cost $15 only. Got just a single part? Just 5 bucks..No charge for pics or anything else. And definitely nothing on the backend from your profit. And of course 69stang members recieve a discount. There will also be alot more payment gateways than just paypal too! The site is totally safe and encripted and I will absolutely not share, or sell private info which seems to be the norm...Like I said before, if you guys can think of other helpful ideas, be sure to send 'em my way, or just let me know good or bad if I'm on the right track... Also, it only deals with cars & parts form the 30's to the 90's. Just classic cars, trucks, muscle cars etc..No more searching on that "other" site for say a piece of hood trim and coming up with two pages of floral seat covers and big wings with led lights..
  6. it's back on ebay too if anyone else is interested..
  7. Thats my car your looking at Mike, let me know if you want more info....
  8. Well, thanks for the advise guy's. I'm no stranger to what it takes to restore a car. It took three years to complete my last resto..a 70 cougar and that was back in 2000 or so. Let me just say parts ain't that plentiful, and if you do find stuff, its gonna set you back. I get what some of you are sayin about constant work on a 40 yr old car. I'm not expecting to jump in and just cruise, but I did have some expectations of the condition of this one. I wanted something with a completed interior and engine compartment so I could hang the shelby stuff on and go from there.....you know the old addage, "one less thing" right?
  9. Well, I posted my car in the for sale section and only today noticed that you weren't supposed to list stuff that was on ebay also..my bad, sorry mr. moderator. I also noticed there were posts about how to overcome my negative feelings about it but pakrat hit it on the head. I've only posted a couple a times and was looking for a great base car to make a shelby clone out of a coupe. I paid too much and let my eyes get the better of me because I wanted to get the project going. But now I don't want to start digging in this car to find out all the other half ass things the previous owner has done. It's not a bad resto per say, but I think I would have gone about some things different. I cannot tell you guys how much it has soured me on building my dream, let alone the money and time wasted on this endevor. My wife sure has been supportive, she's one hell of a gal, but I gotta tell ya, with eight grand spent on this car from our nest egg, its hard to face her somedays and I feel as somehow I let us down. I really thought I was getting a nicely restored base coupe to further build up. Is there recourse? nope..to me everythings bought-sold and paid at this point. My dad taught me that honesty is the best policy, although some times, you'll get the short end. I guess this guy saw me coming. I'm a simple man, who can mean everything with a handshake. But I guess on this big blue marble that dosn't hold true to many people anymore. So I guess I'll try and work some overtime and fix the front end and after I've had time to make some of the smaller things that irk me into what's right for the car, I'll try and throw on some nice wheels and sell it come spring. Anyhoo, thanks for letting me vent, sorry if any feathers got ruffled in my previous posts, and I'll keep hanging around the board until I get it right. Cheers guy's.... Chris
  10. thanks fella's for the positivity...but like I said. I think I want to move on from this one.
  11. I bought this car from Tennesee and havn't even titled it yet. I'll start with the good stuff -all work done by the previous owner include new paint (it's an ok job I guess) new floor pans, new vinyl top, new carpet, new front and rear seat upholstery, has a nice black dash cap over orig dash, new headliner, bumpers, small trim etc..etc. Now for the other goodies..It's a f-code 302/2v still with what the previous owner states is 49,000 orig mi. It runs excellent and purrs like a cat. It has been sprayed ford blue and has chrome valve covers. It also has power steering and power brakes, as well as being an AC car but those parts have been removed. "Ok..what's the bad on it hombre?" you say... Well, the front end needs work. As the car came off the transport the previous owner told the driver he had hit a chuck hole the night before loading. Guess one last joy ride? I can drive it around the block, but she leaches hard left, so I guess it would have to be trailered home. The mtr has a small leak at the rear main seal, and the power steering line has a small leak. At this point I'm really just pissed off about what was supposed to be my dream, and I just want to get out from under it. Just asking $7000.00, which is less than what I paid for it with transport. I've tried to be as honest as possible about it so please check out the pics below and if you like what you see, maybe we can talk further. It's also on ebay if you want to see it there too...
  12. Hello gang! A new guy on here with a question. Has anyone ever tried a 69 Shelby panels on a Coupe/Grande or seen pics of one? I did the forum search feature but came up short. What difficulty are we talkin for a front/rear cosmetic swap on the Coupe/Grande? I'm no stranger to restorations. The last car I restored was a 70 Cougar, but this Mustang would be my first if I decide it would look good, so I just need a bit of insight from the experts.
