I want to install a B&M mega shifter in my 70 coupe. After removing the floor mounted shifter there is a hole left behind. Is it ok to leave that open or should a piece of sheet metal be used to cover it?

Just a quick question, are there supposed to be lock washers used on C-4 bellhousing bolts?
