  1. It has been proven time again that a cleveland likes a bigger carb. Even stock just bolting on a 750 carb is a good upgrade. It should have been a stock size carb any way. With your intake and cam in my opinion a 750 is a must. I have a Weiand X-celerator intake with the magnum 292H comp cam and I am running an edelbrock 750 carb

  2. Don't trade it for a T5. Your toploader is a much better tranny. The best t5 is only good for 330 pounds of torque. Sell it and put your money on a TKO tranny. My t5 only holds up to the beatings I give it cause I run a stock 5.0 motor putting out 250hp with 3.70 9" rear end in my 69 conv. I just bought a tko tranny for my soon engine upgrade to 425 hp.

I am well aware of the rating of the T5. I have broke several of them. I have also used the tko tremec. Needing an overdrive or switching to a higher gear like 3.55's is in order and I'm on a budget is the reason why. The 4.11's are a bit much for the street

  3. Took a look at your project. You've done a lot of great work and I look forward to the pics after paint.

I like the spoiler you used. I've been going back an fourth on that idea, but after seeing your pics I think I've made up my mind. It looks great.

Thanks I really appreciate that. Money is tight right now so I'm pushed back on paint as of the moment. Plus I'm moving in a couple weeks so a lot going on. I hope to get it painted over winter or in the spring maybe. I hope to be on the road next summer!

  4. First off it didn't jump a tooth on the timing belt because there is no such thing on that motor. Does it turn over when cranking but just not firing?

The timing chain would have to have an awful lot of slack in it to jump a tooth so highly unlikely. Even if it did it would still run

  5. I am not sure the wattage. I just went to buy new headlights from napa and they said they don't have the incadesent or whatever bulbs anymore. So he gave me the direct replacement for that and they are halogens. It doesn't say on the box. I am in the process of getting all my lighting working. I am in the middle of a build as you can see the link in my sig. So actually I'm having a problem now as I don't have 12v power to the headlights and I put all new fuses under the dash. So I am trying to figure out where to start next. I hate trouble shooting wiring issues. At the connector it shows 3v

  6. Shelby,

Thats exactly what i bought after much research, this will undoubtedly provide much more power to whatever light you use even OEM lights or at least save your existing wiring and switch from the power draw. Unfortunately i cannot give you a review as mine is still in box and im in Afghanistan. I am very interested in the lights you have chosen however, this is the one pice to this upgrade i am not complete with. I have seen alot in excess of 100$ for the set on ebay, but am not thrilled with the bulbs nor the price, You have any recommendations on lights. I will be home in just over an month and this is the first thing i am upgrade so if i beat you to it ill let you know how the harness works out.

I just bought sealed halogens. Two low and two high. I bought all four for $38. I was just unsure about the wiring. I may get that harness soon and give it a try

  7. Some people have had problems with Halogens and headlight switches, as they pull more current than normal incandescent bulbs. That causes the headlight switch internal circuit breaker to activate. From what I've heard, those cars with separate high beam lamps seem to accept the Halogens better than combined headlamps.

That is what I've heard a lot about but then again it may not as dennyb68 said. I guess I will try it and see. If it blows out I'll change it out.

  8. Anyone-

What are the two large (~1.25in diameter) holes that are oriented vertically (upper right hand of this pic) thru the firewall for? The holes have been "punched thru" and protrude maybe 0.25in in towards the engine side.

I have a 302 with AC, and the heater hoses go thru the slot that open up to the hole where the ac evaporator lines go. (left lower center)

I can't figure what these holes are for unless the non AC cars use them for heater hoses in a VERY different configuration inside the car.

    Can someone help me? THANKS

    Jay

Yes those are for heater hoses on non a/c cars

  9. I never cared what color any car was that I've ever purchased. It just didn't much matter. Now that I have to pick a color for my 69, it is the hardest decision I've had to make on the car. Before anyone says pick what you like it's your car... I know that :001_smile: I'm not asking what color to paint it. I'm just trying to figure out how to narrow it down. What made you pick the color you have or how did you settle on one. I'm ready to dry a color from a hat because I can't just pick one  I was going to go with a blue, then a shade or burgandy, then I was going to go with something like Emberglo or a newer burnt orange color. Now I have no frickin clue. It is very irritating. I don't want to regret it later that is all.
