spamers

Recommended Posts

I reported like four spam posts to PakRat. You will note at the bottom of each thread posting at the lower left corner you will see a red/white triangle with an exclamation point inside of it. If you click that link it will allow you to report a post as spam. It's right under the users avatar. B.

This has been covered in depth in other another post and I think is now addressed. Ben has installed image verification so it will be a little more difficult for your garden-variety spammer to add such unwanted delicacies to the menu.

What puzzles me about the spammer mentality is this though; don't they really want longevity? Wouldn't most spammers know that if they come in and drop new posts as well as post in existing posts becoming totally disruptive that it would be a means to their end?

Most logical-thinking spammers would find a site with weak registration and just exploit it to a modest degree....maybe drop one or two a week or if they are prudent, study the site and determine peak times when most users are on (that info is available at bottom of screen) and drop them then.

So why would they carpet bomb the site if they knew it would probably shut down their access?
