About the hood issue, had the idle air control valve not been located on top of the plenum, would the stock hood have worked? You said the valve was the issue. IAC valve was the biggest issue, however the air intake was also a problem. The cowl hood solved both problems. I really wanted to retain the stock hood, but it simply would not fit. The other similar builds I've seen were not able to use the stock Mach 1 hood.
