jerry69 10 Report post Posted April 6, 2009 Hi, I have a question on exhaust. I have glass packs on currently and will eventually change to Flowmasters. My right side is ok, but my left side does small pops at various times. I retarded the timing and took most of it away but it might pop every 5 seconds or do small 3 pops sometimes just one then sometimes none at all. I reajusted the fuel mixture on the carb. The last 30 seconds it didn't pop at all. Is this something that might be just to having glass packs on? The engine runs nice and smooth and starts as soon as I turn the key. bnickel 10,004 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 a pop through the exhaust would indicate a misfire, check your plugs and see if there are on or two that look different from the rest of them

jerry69 10 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 Ok thanks I'll take a good look at them and see if there's a color difference. Jerry69

69BossMach1 10 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 popping from the exhaust can also be caused by a hole upstream of the mufflers. raw air getting sucked into the header flanges or just a rust hole in the pipe will 'pop' once it gets mixed in with the hot exhaust gasses.
