Will a 17x9 with 4.5bs work for the rears without major mods to rear quarters? I have cragar s/s 17x9 with 5.5bs for rears but the lip on the 17x8 with 4.5bs is deeper on the front... this looks funny so was thinking going to a 4.5bs to get more lip in the rear

The outboard portion of the rim would be the same front and rear at 3.5 inches with 5.5 and 4.5 backspacing. Cragar must have done something strange with the shape of the lip.

 

You will severely limit yourself in the width of tires you can run in the rear with only 4.5 BS on a 9.

 

Are other sizes available? Another option is to run 18s in the rear if available in better sizes.
