Help me bypass the pink resistor wire

I spent the afternoon installinh a new Crane XR-I module to replace my points today. I was not having any issues with my points just tired of the maintainence. They worked fine and the car ran well. After taking the car on a test drive it stumbles when you put your foot in it. I am thinking it might be due to the resistor wire. I get around 6.8v at the coil. Should I just cut out this pink wire and remove it. Then splice into the greed\red wire at the ignition and run a wire through the firewall and connect it to the red\green wire to the coil? I have the Pertronix flame thrower so I can supply the coil with 12v. Then connect the ignition module to + 12v side of the coil. I don't want to screw anything up here.. So thought I'd ask here first. Thanks for all the help.

SOunds like you've got the right idea. I'd try running the wire 1st to see if it helps before cutting out the pink wire.
