Electrical power supply ???

I am in the final stages of installing the interior wiring and radio in my coupe. I am always having to get in and out of the car to hook my battery charger to the harness to check the power to what I just wired up and functionality of the lights and such. Could I just hook the battery to the starter solenoid and attach the neg side of the battery to the chassis some place. Then I could just leave this hooked up like this till I installed my engine , right. I won't fry anything like this cause it is like the engine was in and the neg was connected to the block and then the block grounded to the body right?Thanks
