It would have been funnier if they would have forgot to pull out the brake light fuse :)

did this originally have a vinyl top or is it a coastal car?not sure if it was original or not. it does have the trim running across the top of the qrt/bottom of the vinyl. The top has been ripped off and the roof skin was rusty and was not blue. It looked original to me.

I'll tell him if goes back to look at it to get some pics.

I went and looked a car today that my father in law is thinking of buying. What do you think its worth? The car is all original missing only the engine. Its a 1968 Cougar XR7 built on July 10th at the Dearborn, Michigan Plant.
The Options:
XR7
S code 390ci 2v
c-6 trans (still in the car)
caribbean blue poly (ext. color)
vinyl top
interior is black crinkle vinyl w/ black clarion knitted trim
9" rear w/3.00 Locking
A/C
power steering
power brakes
tach
dash clock
deluxe interior w/woodgrain and all the courtesy lights and switches
foot pedal delayed wipers
shoulder seat belts
radio w/o cassette
center console
Conditon:
The roof skin, floor pans, trunk lid, and 1 qtr probably needs to be replaced. The other qtr needs repair. Everything looks pretty solid under the hood(even under the battery). All the trim, headlight doors, etc is intact. The car is complete minus the engine and some of its parts are laying in the trunk. The interior actually doesn't look that bad for its age. Not sure how much would clean up and how much would have to be replaced. It would need a good bit of work but with all the options the car has, I think it would be a good car to restore to original. He's just got to work out a price. With title in hand what would be the MAX you would give for the car? Thanks.

I heard on another forum that this is a trailer for a new show dedicated to Mustangs.
They also have a fan page on facebook.

i sprayed my black truck (thats in my albums) outside in my back yard. I did not wet sand the base, only gently wiped it with a tack rag prior to clearing. I did have some orange peel, but it was not bad and not even noticable unless your nose is on the paint. I would not wet sand the base. IMO I actually havn't sanded and buff the clear yet and its been 2 years. I guess I need too.

Thanks A Lot!!! That helps! Did all the Mach 1s come with a tach, or did some come with the standard cluster?

:helpsmilie:can i buy just the woodgrain bezel and bolt my factory guages to it. also what would it take to put a woodgrain bezel and clock on my standard dash (as far as fitment). And as a side note i am looking for the required pieces. have found some on ebay. getting outbid sucks. i need more money.

Body color wouldn't look bad but my vote would be for the semi gloss black. It makes it stand out more IMO.

Only the 164t Manual trans from the late 60s/early 70s require the manual trans starter. All others use the automatic starter, so you should be fine assuming your bellhousing and flywheel are 157t. Maybe the following link will help clarify, as well as assist you in the dimensions you need to measure on your car to verify: https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=1wxkAVHXlwsN96vd2f_IDd4eRQTJNSHnAZ9TEmO62rdpXKuQ53O6gRt7jGkS3&authkey=CJi_hdYK&hl=enThanks. Thats a helpful article.

I personally would use a manual transmission starter if you're using a manual transmission. 157 tooth flywheel = 10" clutch disc. The pilot bearing will be included in most clutch kits and would need to match the year of the car. Here's one that would fit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ZZZ-30008/I would make you a hell of deal on it since I have a new one I didnt use since I upgraded to a 11". Dont forget you'll need a 351 z-bar unless you decided to go hyd or cable.
If your fastback already has the under dash clutch pedal assy why are you swapping it out with the one in your coupe?
I'm not swapping the pedal assembley, I'm only putting the trans out of the coupe. The po put the automatic in it that came with the 351 but didn't remove the clutch pedal assembly. I do need to get the Z bar and the bracket that bolts to the back of the block to hold the z bar. what kinda deal are you talking on the clutch kit?

anybody?

A 360 uses a 352 block just like a 390. So you should be able to just buy your parts for a 390 application and bolt it right up.

Ok, I have now had time to look at what I got, so hear are better details. My current set up in my fastback is a early 80s vic '79 cast 351w with an auto trans. The car was originally a 250ci w/3speed. The clutch pedal assembly is still on the car. So I am going to take the 3speed out of the coupe I have and put it in my fastback. The bell housing on the 3speed will bolt up and is cast C90A 6394 A and I have to use a 157tooth flywheel. So I basicly have 3 questions.
1. Will the starter off of the auto trans work with the 3 speed and 157tooth flywheel?2. What size clutch can I run on the 157tooth?
3. When I buy my pilot bearing, by what application do I need to buy it for?

I like the custom "functional" side air intake.

Wow! Congrats! It won't be long now.

Love your 70. What blue is that?

Hey these are my other rides....well the 02 i bought for my wife. and i know, i know, i need to post some pics of my project. i just haven't had time. it sits there under the cover.
1970 F-100
1982 Mustang Gt
2002 Mustang GT
I have more pics of these in my albums. Also here is a link to the Trucks work i done (almost step by step) in my back yard. The pics are in reverse though, so you have to go to the last page and go backwards. The man in the picture is my dad, as it use to be his truck when i was younger.

It really depends on your complete set up, but the actual formula is
Carb CFM = ((Cubic Inches * RPM) / 3456) * Volumetric Efficiency
The "VE" depends on your build. For an engine built for mild performance (not a full race motor) you should probably use 80-90%.
Real Rough Guess for VE Based on engine builds
Stocker 75-80%
Performance 80-90%
Race Engine 90%+
Example -
351"
6500 Red Line
Performance Motor .90% VE
594 CFM = ((351 * 6500)/ 3456) * .90
Not to say you only need a 600cfm because it does very by your specific requirments, but a 750 is probably too much.
