  1. This has been covered in depth in other another post and I think is now addressed. Ben has installed image verification so it will be a little more difficult for your garden-variety spammer to add such unwanted delicacies to the menu.

What puzzles me about the spammer mentality is this though; don't they really want longevity? Wouldn't most spammers know that if they come in and drop new posts as well as post in existing posts becoming totally disruptive that it would be a means to their end?

Most logical-thinking spammers would find a site with weak registration and just exploit it to a modest degree....maybe drop one or two a week or if they are prudent, study the site and determine peak times when most users are on (that info is available at bottom of screen) and drop them then.

So why would they carpet bomb the site if they knew it would probably shut down their access?

  2. Does anyone have Paks or Bens email? I think I communicatred with Ben once when the site was donw over a domain DNS or registration issue. I would be glad to try to assist.

Also, I checked the human-filter registration and it fails. It only asks the user to type the name of the site so it's not dynamic. It doesn't change and could easily be scripted. I'm sure it could be fixed with an add-in or possibly a newer version of vBulletin that would have to be upgraded (the latter of which shouldnt be taken lightly.)

I will see if I can dig up either of their emails....this is really out of hand this morning...

  3. This is getting out of hand and is obviously using some sort of botware to auto-register on the site and then start posting. If there is no way to blacklist originating IP segments, we may have to think of something else.

I hate to suggest this but some sites require manual oversight by an admin to approve new registrations. These would add more work for Pak or whoever is running this site but may be necessary to reduce this recent targeting that is going on.

Also Pak (or whomever) may be busy as I see the spam now hangs around awhile with no action being taken. This is what the spammers really want, increased air time. There are many of us that frequent the site or are in front of the PC already. Why not enlist us with limited admin rights and we can ban the user and nuke ads as quickly as they pop up?

  4. Agreed. The v-clamps are a little pricey but do range in price and at $100/ea, he is charging you full price. They do make money on parts, one very high end shop in DFW charges $200 for a stamped SS X pipe section that can be found easily for 1/2 that. What kind of headers are you running that need CNC cut collectors? Are they going to polish it all for you and TIG weld? I was thinking about 1/2 of that would be closer to the norm.

  5. What do you think would be a better comparison? They are two very popular model cars in the same class and manufactured by two of the largest mfrs of the day. Both cars were available in convertibles and special edition high performance models. I dont see the Mustang having a third body style as fastback gives it an edge. The numbers certainly dont reflect it. The reports come from Hagerty and I think are taken from auctions. Might want to ask them about it.

  6. Are they fabbing the system up with mandrel bent tubes? You can get the Pypes stainless system with mufflers for around $400 I think. Add stainless clamps for around $150-$200 and you still need to get the down pipes fabbed up. Mine fit pretty well. I would think most shops would charge $200-$300 to install

  7. I bought the Scott Drake bezel set and will only be using one of the bezels if anyone is interested. BTW, the repo bezel was initially a loose fit on the OEM lamp housing. It was a simple matter of a flaring cone and a few light taps with a hammer to expand the diameter of the lamp housing and the bezel is now a very snug fit.

I'd be interested in details and technique on how to stencil the lens to read "BELTS" instead of "SEAT".

  8. It is an interesting topic. The popularity of the 69 Camaro vs the 69 Mustang must play a major role making desirability the key factor. I am unsure what production numbers were between the two to contrast but I see the same if not more 69 Camaros for sale then the 69 Mustang.

I went and ran a more "apples to apples" report on the base model 69 Camaro with a 307 and the average selling price was still $20k, nearly double that of the Mustang. I think high-end modded cars, rare limited versions and unique story cars will always be at the upper end of the market but looking at the median pricing between the two I think it just boils down to popularity, maybe even at the Ford vs Chevy level

EDIT: Just noticed Ed posted production numbers (thanks Ed) which since they are relatively close, really levels the playing field for both cars in the "supply" column.

  9. I was sure I had seen these installed under the hood of some Ford cars. But after I did a search sure enough, its not even close. Did Ford have under hood lights in 60-70 cars? The Osborn guide only shows on in a Cougar.

I would expect if they did it would look more like this one?
