  1. Hi! My name is Kaitlyn and I bought a roller 1969 mustang back in march and I'm working on restoring it. I of course have a million questions and often times find myself feeling completely lost lol but i'm trying to take it one step at a time since its such a big project and I know it will end up being more expensive than i'm expecting. I'm sending it in next week to have some chassis work done (new floor pans, fixing some holes in the wheel wells, sandblasting, epoxy, etc.) because I felt like all of that should be done by a professional! My question for now is what's next, I feel like this is the first big thing I've done for the car, other than cleaning it out when I first got it and doing research as much as possible. Im sure there isn't an exact process but I just don't know exactly what direction I should go in after this, do I do electrical, brakes, interior? I know when it's time I want to put the 351 W in the car and I've been looking at the T5 transmission (5 speed manual trans, fairly sure it was common in the foxbody mustangs) Those are my basic questions for now, I've definitely got a lot to learn in this process but I'm excited to learn and watch the transformation of the car, it's crazy to think I have my dream car! I would love any advice anyone has!
  2. I had the misfortune of having someone get white over spray on my Mach 1, which I didn't notice for two weeks. The over spray came off the red paint easily enough with a clay bar, but didn't touch the over spray on the black matte. Other than a respray, none of my several contacts had much advice. While searching online I ran across a spray on product from Dr Beasley's that claimed to remove over spray from matte black. Riiight. I figured I'd waste $35 plus shipping before I'd respray the hood. I had no faith it would work, but I'm a believer in it now. Directions said spray it on, wait 5 minutes, wipe it off. The first application removed most of the white speckles, so I applied a second coat and waited 8ish minutes. The result was effin magic. Well worth the $50 and twenty minutes.
  3. Hi everyone, My uncle's 1970 Mach 1 was recently rewired with an American Autowire harness. Right now everything works (gauges, lights etc), but the Warning/Idiot lights stopped working. The car has been in restoration for so long that we can't remember which lights should light up. Even then, with the new AAW harness, we don't know which lights should come on (Alt, Oil, Voltage?). Can someone tell us which warning lights light up during ignition? Also, any tips to start trouble shooting would be appreciated! Thanks!American Autowire Harness Thanks!

  6. I'm looking for a used hood for 1969 Mach 1 (original equipment only). This car does not have a shaker hood. It has a bolt-on scoop. I'm also looking for a driver's-side door.
  7. Hey guys, I recently purchased a project Mach1 with ribbed carpet inserts. Does anyone know if these are original or reproduction? I'm new to the forum so thanks in advance for any technical help I can get with the start of this project.
  8. Hello, this is the project I'm working on. its a 1969 Mach 1 Cobra Jet R Code. The factory color is #45 Silver Jade Paint, Ford #3230-A.. According to Marti report its one of 2 option this way. ( 428 Auto Trans) as I add more and more info I will list everything. The Photo's your seeing are the way I purchased the car in 1991, spent a few weekends with my friends drag racing it (14.01 to 13.99) that was back in the late 80's and the rumor was if you wanted a good time slip race in Spokane because the clocks were fast. ( I have no idea if that is true or not and really don't care I have a 1969 mustang 120,000 miles and a 13.99 time slip. I'm doing all the work myself, (a few friends stop by now and then and I sucker them in holding a door or helping out) I'd doing a full rotisserie restoration. since I don't have a rotisserie i just moved my hoist outside to sandblast the undercarriage and paint it.. I started this project 3 months ago, so I have some photo's to catch up on, but I just found this web site and wanted to share my restoration project and I'm very willing to take any advice !!! I don't do this for a living so if someone has a great idea I would appreciate you passing it on. More photos and more of the story to come.. The photos your seeing now are just before I started the project Thanks for looking Tracy Popham Clarkston Washington
  9. I am in need of a unrestored 1970 351 Cleveland shaker base and snorkel. Patina is fine, dents are fine. I could also use a trim ring for the hood and a beat up old rubber seal. I have a 70 mach 1 unrestored, one owner all original I am going to sell that is complete minus the shaker stuff. I would really like to put it on to sell the car to someone to rebuild. Thank you, vanscooter email: vanscooter@comcast.net or 215-518-0293 I am in SE Pennsylvania
  10. I have a 69 Q code Mach 1 and I am seeking some input from other Mustang guys and gals. The state I live in, has recently increased the interstate speed limit and it is incredibly frustrating to be crusing down the interstate listening to my 428 screaming trying to stay with traffic. Slow down? Right! No way I will let a Prius pass me! I have searched the net trying to find 5 speed conversion info for a FE, No luck. Has anyone here done the conversion? From what I can find, the TKO 600 trans will take the abuse from a 428, but cross member, what clutch to use and so on... Any suggestions?
  11. Im in the process of converting the deluxe blue interior on my sportsroof to high back seats. Im looking for a pair of front high backs in any condition. I would also be interested in possibly trading my interior for one from a mach??? there in really good condition. Let me know what ya got!
  12. Hello everyone, Sorry to be a newb here but I have a scenario I never thought would happen that I need some help. My brother inherited my fathers 1969 Mach 1 390 S code which last ran in 1996. It has spent most of its life in a garage but it did spend about 10 years in the elements. It is pretty straight and all intact. He recently got engaged and his fiance approached me and said she would like to fix up his vehicle as a wedding present to ride away in on their wedding day. She has a budget of $10,000. I completely understand that this is no something that can be fully explained or represented without pictures or seeing the car in person I would just like to know what items I should replace to strictly make it safe and street-able(not a resto-mod project). I have a person who is going to do some trade work for the labor so I should be able to save money there I just wanted to know what are some ideas of items to replace assuming the engine is not beyond repair. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be documenting the rebuild with lots of pictures. If this belongs in another section I apologize this is my first attempt at a forum.
