  1. LOL! The circle is complete.... (The original 64.5 Mustang was said to be 'a strectched Lincoln Mark II!') Love the triple black. Nice car.
  2. We have lots to complain about. the US has much more road, and not nearly as much public transportation. We put 20K+ miles on my wife's minivan in 8 months without even crossing the Mississippi River. (In fact, we only hit four states.) How many times can you cross the entirety of Europe to get 20K miles? The US has a lot more places to go, and a lot fewer ways of getting there than Europe. There's a bona-fide reason why US gas is "worth" a dollar a gallon. Why we continue to pay 4x that amount is beyond me. I suggest park-ins next.
  3. Not so much rhetorical, more like, "lost time in posting reply...more to come." I think that a lot of those cars may have had collision damage, or "Ford Rust" through that part of the body. Add to that a decade or so of poor storage, and it would seem like an epidemic.
  4. what do you think caused the demand?
  5. No, but apparently some Boss 302 owners have gotten that high... I'd have to say that they misplaced the decimal point and it should be 2,600. Keep hope alive, buddy...but...damn! I love how the 'see our price list for repairs and additions' link is busted. "Under Construction"? you bet your sweet ass!
  6. The trick isn't what the car is worth to him, it's what the engine is worth to YOUR car. You can get a 302 from autozone for what, $600? A great crate engine you can get for $5000. Either of these options you can see as being "downgrading" to your ride since it isn't '69 material. If you're just hopping to get a V8-I'd say this one is your best option-since guys are very lenient with "got rid of the 6" stories....The fact that you can get parts/glass/resale-the-rest is just a bonus. Pay the guy what you feel comfortable with. Don't forget they stopped making 69's in 1970. (38 years ago?) It's not just 'classic' at this stage...when the old lady starts in on you say, "It's not just junk...it's ANTIQUE junk." I paid a guy's $450 asking price for a truck because I wanted the 4-spd. Why waste the time haggling about the price when it's obviously a win-win? He got his money, I got my tranny, and a WHOLE bunch more. At the time, it was just an old truck...but I saw it as a collection of vintage parts. Ford also stopped making that truck-so there IS a degree of irreplacability to this game.

    Ooops!

Sorry, I couldn't write: "without putting even Windsor heads on it (in lieu of the proper 351 Cleveland head/piston/rod/cam equipment)." I'm trying to keep it short here, Pak. I know you guys know which 'heads' warrant a BOSS sticker! :clover:
  8. I just can't get over the fact that this was a Mustang shop. Poor form on the shopkeep's part.

    Ooops!

LOL! "Mis-clone"? Seriously, who would put "Boss Stripes" on a 302, and re-build the 302 without even putting Windsor heads on it?* Can we say, "Posseur?" (*Yeah, I know it already has 302 Windsors on it, I was talking 351.)
  10. I need the FMX...none of my parts guys will get rid of theirs...:( This question is a toughy....I don't see that anything in the 750-1500 range would be a rip-off to either side. If your guy knows he has vintage parts, the cost may go up, but I wouldn't give more than 2K for the priveledge of driving the 69 v8-no matter how many parts came with it. These are unibody cars, so you can pretty much tell the guy that the body damage shoots the value of the car...what he has of value is all working parts, and the glass, 'natch.
  11. ...sorry. Just an old php trick to get a laugh. (Kinda blows a hole in the theory, if you ask me.) I won't need to be calling Pak, my name is Andres Crabtree, III and I got more holes than a golf course....
  12. Got no clue. It's some kind of anomally. I'm on a couple of other sites, and while automotiveforums is cool-the mustang section can be filled with some 'undesirables'. I'm on another site (for my truck) and it's the lamest, most judgemental, straight mental place I've ever seen. Come to think about it, I noticed that guys who drive my type of truck never speak to each other. So I think it's part the type of car/some the type of user.

  14. I don't know about Texas Law, but my buddy here in Ohio has pointed out that the law is if you don't provide a written estimate that is signed for approval, the customer is only responsible for the first $25 of work. Maybe you should check on this angle.
