Recommended Posts

I’ve bought the open tracker Boss 302 reinforcement plates and I’m after some advice please,

They aren’t a fantastic fit and not sure by looking at attached photo, if they’re in correct position ?

thoughts and advice are welcome

thanks

I have some pictures when I did mine. I have Dynacorn shocktowers, so they came with the Big Block braces installed.

There's a plate on the inside of the tower also.

The Boss 429 type braces I made out of cardboard first, then steel.

Not much info, but I hope the pictures will help.

I did templates of the areas to fill in and cut them out of some leftover 11ga. I also fully welded all the seams on the shock towers before installing the plates, then fully welded them in place. The big block reinforcements were also fabricated (these are out of 7ga) and fully welded and blended. The inner brace was more 7ga, fully welded.

Now you're gona make me blush... I have been inspired by so many other's who have talents much greater than mine, and many of them I've had the privilege to train. I'm just a little OCD :)

It was a pleasure to serve, and I appreciate everyone's efforts.

@Staffy, I am also in the process of adding the Boss 302 reinforcements. Thank you for posting your work. It's super helpful.

I do have a question. For the plate that gets welded into the shocktower pocket, how did you protect the original covered metal from trapped corrosion? Did you apply any POR-15 or similar treatments?

Thanks and sorry for the delay in replying, I work in U.K. hospitals and it’s been a rather busy time...

Anways, back to your question, , I took it down to bare metal and added a rust convetor product, we call it Kurust in the U.K., then 3 coats of a Zinc Rich primer, hope that helps.

I’ve been rather busy at work, so still being doing a bit, but between work.

finally finished the welding, long list is done !

Now onto main body work.

Just purchased the SoT coil overs. Long wait to get it over U.K. .....never done this mod before so intrigued as to how it will work out.
