Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 Found out today my wife has breast cancer. Waiting on results from a biopsy to see what we are up against and what the docs plan of attack will be. I’m sure several of you have been in my shoes before, so asking for some prayers and some ways to help support my wife other than words of encouragement, support, and staying by her side to conquer it. You are correct in the progress that is being made. Treatment today for the same diagnosis a year ago can be completely different. capemustang 15 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 I went through this in 2006. It is very scary. The hardest part can be waiting to hear the biopsy results and what treatment is the best. Take your time to get more information before committing to a course of treatment. Try to be patient with each other and take care of yourselves--yes, even you as the spouse need to make sure you are ok. You will get through this together. Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted August 20, 2020 The Dr’s visit yesterday shed some promising news. The cancer appears to be only in one spot, ½” in dia. They took the biopsy and we should get the results fri/mon and from that they can determine the type, stage level and a plan of attack. The specialist will also be checking the lymph nodes. Your wife can do it, don't be afraid to take big leaps. It won't be easy for both of you but stay positive. Fresh, unprocessed food will be your friend from now on as well as anything not natural. Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted August 26, 2020 Good news, the cancer is called IDC, most common type found in 80% of women. We meet with the oncologist on Thursday for lymph node test and to hear the teams plan of attack. Sue is in better spirits now and we have shared the news of her cancer with the kids. That also seemed to help her. When I told her about you guys from across the US and as far as Down under praying for us, she teared up. Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted August 27, 2020 Prayers have been answered and we got some great news today. Stage one, cell doesn’t appear to have any blood vessels through it, and lymph nodes looked normal. Next is choose between a lumpectomy with centralized radiation or a mastectomy. Lymph nodes would be removed during either procedure and then more thoroughly checked. Dr was so awesome and took the time to explain what we are dealing with, what happens next, options on how to proceed, genetic test available to help with that decision as well as benefit Erin, and then preventive measures to help insure another cell doesn’t pop up. Sue was so relieved as I and we can now focus on what it actually is, in lieu of the unknown. Chemo will be required to lower her chance of it reoccurring. Sue had the surgery today, lumpectomy, all went well and we are back at home.
