Rindelmach1 14 Report post Posted May 21, 2020 Having an issue with the turn radius when making a right turn on my 69 mach1. Last few days I heard that sound when power steering fluid is low however its at the right level. When I take it for a spin, it becomes difficult to make hard turns especially right turns. Is this possibly the power steering cylinder?
jperls 2 Report post Posted May 23, 2020 Possibly...could also be the control valve...have you noticed any leaking? I am going through something similar...basically rebuilding the whole power steering setup (bad control valve and the new one I bought from NPD also turned out defective). Rindelmach1 14 Report post Posted May 23, 2020 Nothing leaking. I'm about to drain the PS fluid and replace with type F trans.

Rindelmach1 14 Report post Posted June 5, 2020 so it turns out that the welded bolts for power steering extension bracket ripped off the frame. thats why i was having steering issues. I had to weld teh bracket. i've read that the proper way is to weld the extension bracket. this is the extension that is used when installing long tube headers. so problem solved for now. Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted June 5, 2020 This is pretty common on power steer cars ,especially if you have the drop ram bracket for headers, that is a lot of extra leverage
