Projects pending pandemic

What projects have you started while "sheltering-in-place" during the pandemic?  I'd like to know: whether Mustang or something else.

For me, my harness business is booming, as folks are apparently taking the time to refurbish their Mustangs and are sending in their wiring for refurbishment.  Since everything comes in by USPS, UPS, or FedEx, social distancing is a no-brainer.  All of my supplies are likewise mail-order.

Removed several unused from my breaker box and added a 220 outlet for the new welder.

jmlay running wire for a welder is always a good thing. What welder/s do ya have?

 

I've got a bit more painting to do in a bathroom. Still tinkering on the 69. Made a throttle pad as I misplaced the fasteners for the oe pedal, and wanted something different.

 I welded a couple of tabs on the back and it pivots like the original.

I bought some new tars, Nitro ng555.

I also cleaned up and installed the grille surround moldings. Btw, it's much easier to install them before you install the fenders.

I've adjusted the hood/molding/fender extensions since the pic was taken.

RPM, what size are your tires and has the bigger wheel/less tire made the ride harsher? Oh, and what do you have for the rear suspension? It looks like more goodies there.

Not directly Mustang related but it stores a mustang so there's that. 

I've been wanting to have a nice finished garage ever since we built out house 15 years ago so I finally got off my duff and did it. All new paint top to bottom, new cabinets, big screen TV, and professionally done floors. Couldn't be happier with the results.

Now I make my wife take her shoes off when she come in it from the house

Fortunately for me, my work hasn't been affected by the COVID19 mess.  That being said, I've been making progress on stuff around the house with the quarantine.

In the past 5 or 6 weeks:

Mustang related:

I've pulled the lower dash assembly back out and installed the MDL hydraulic clutch pedal kit, decided where the the VintageAir heater box will go, started patching unused holes in the firewall and engine bay as well as a couple other minor sheetmetal tweaks, pulled the front fenders off in prep for re-painting inner fenders, begun prepping interior for full Eastwood Rust Encapsulator paint in light grey, mocked up the engine (Foxbody accessory brackets, etc.), ordered ARP bolts and Global West Shock Tower / Bump stop mounts *BTW GW is closed b/c of this stupid virus.  Dang it...), researched the heck out of how I'm going to run the body wiring and I'm sure I'm forgetting something.  I scooped up a posi and gears from a forum member and I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on axles, a few more parts for the 8" build and FlexForm leafs.

Non Mustang related:

Me and the wife and kids planted 10 blackberries, 20 blue berries, 4 cherry trees, 2 pecan trees, 1 nectarine tree and a bunch of ornamental things.  We also started in on installing a fenced area for the ducks and chickens.

Been a very productive couple weeks.  I'm about tired of this quarantine business though and I'm past the point of being worried about this virus.  We've got to get back to running an economy or we're going to quarantine ourselves into a depression...

Nice looking garage!  I very nearly bought a Bendpak 4 post lift last week off craigslist but I realized the garage takeover my wife and I have planned would mean it gets moved out into the weather so I'm holding off.  We've planned a 3 car garage build with an apartment over the top in the near future...waiting on architect.

I keep telling my wife if I ever come across a 1 bedroom 6 car garage house I'm just buying, no permission asked. 

 

The lift is an Advantage Lift. I think the quality is very good. Lifts can really vary from the bottom to top tier. I consider this a higher middle tier.

Because my wheels are 8 inches wide I'm limited to what they'll mount, so I've got 245/45-18 front and 255/45 rear.

Well...prior to doing all my changes it had worn out everything on stockish 14 inch tires. So yes it rides harsher. But better for what I like. Having raced karts in my younger days I love the way it handles. 

Both front and rear suspension are home fabbed tube arms with rod ends, rear has a triangulate 4 bar, and QA1 coilovers.

To stiffen the chassis I have subframe connectors, convertible inner rockers, one piece seat riser, export brace, Monte Carlo bar, engine crossmember that  also bolts to the lower control arm inner mount, and 8 point roll bar. 

 

A bit excessive maybe, but one thing led to a rabbit hole. I've only once driven it with the door bars, but figured I'd put them in while I'm at it. The car handles really neutral, has not under nor over steered, yet.

I sold the old AC225, retiring the mig converted WeldPak 100, not sure what to do with the old pannel spotter, sold a few extra parts, then splurged on a new Millermatic 215. Now I need to get off my rear and get car back together.  Hell, it is clear you all are outpacing me!

I bought another 56 Ford and planed on starting in on the first one but work has kept me from doing anything. Even working weekends to keep up with it .

We're working on making our Ford F-150 more off-road capable truck. We won't be installing the lift kit for now since we won't much have a chance to test it off-road. The project is not completely at a halt because we still get to replace parts that need an upgrade. Good thing we could still acquire parts needed to progress even in isolation. I'm just waiting for the black rock wheels I've ordered plus the tonneau cover to make the truck bed less of a mess. The tires won't be much of a problem since we have a selection of mud tires to spare.

That is one heck uva mancave/garage......wow! Curious from a build perspective:  how many square feet is that garage? Is there a habitable area above it? It looks huge and yet I don't see any support holding up ceiling from the floor.

And that Porsche.... it better not be crapping on that Mustang. We both know which one is the more treasured car....LOL!

I've been busy trying to fill in the Covid salary deficit over the past month with several extra jobs. Recently fixing some vintage FJ fenders that were quite crunchy. Lots of work, but helps pay the bills.

 

 

When I'm not working, I'm working on our next large project...

... downsizing the house and upsizing the shop. No more raking leaves in the fall, YEAAAAA!!!
