Kris 90 Report post Posted April 11, 2020 What has anyone done to replace the cloth tube on the inner door lock rods? One of mine is perfect but the other side is frayed a coupe inches on one end. From what I can tell it has to have something so the rod can slide inside it, but I may be wrong. Any ideas?
barnett468 418 Report post Posted April 11, 2020 no cloth tubes necessary, but you can get something similar from a vintage electronics store. the use something similar as a heat insuator on the outside of wires. maybe try orvacs in fullerton calif

JayEstes 172 Report post Posted April 15, 2020 I think I used some heat-shrink tubing, but it’s not gonna be as nice as that sleeve insulator.....
Kris 90 Report post Posted June 4, 2020 Got the covers on the door lock rods done. I got the stuff from classic industries. The first picture is of one original and one I rebuilt. The second is of both rebuilt. Works perfect and looks like the exact same stuff as original. Here’s the link to what I used if anyone else wants to do this. it’s a tight fit to get around the bends but if you take your time it goes on easily and fits exactly like the original ones. https://www.classicindustries.com/product/all-years/ford/mustang/parts/k0163.html
