3Katz 26 Report post Posted February 28, 2020 I'm getting everything off to trim repair but I'm not sure what this piece is....
Kris 90 Report post Posted February 28, 2020 It looks like the piece that goes by the well liner on a convertible. I’d have to look at mine to be sure though.
aslanefe 333 Report post Posted February 28, 2020 Some non sports roof cars (only some 69s I believe, not 70s) have trims on the bottom of trunk lid and rear quarter panel extensions. That looks a lot like the piece that goes on the trunk lid. I have the rear trim on my 69 Grande. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2018/05/28/1969-ford-mustang-grande-428cj-an-ultra-rare-tuxedo-clad-street-fighter/ Look at the picture on this link and you will see the rear trim. 3Katz 26 Report post Posted February 28, 2020 Sorry guys I should have specified - my car is a 69 Sportsroof. Thanks for your thoughts, it's not off the trunk lid I will take another couple of pics and see if that can help.
1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted February 28, 2020 I don't think that is from a 1969 Sportsroof. I didn't come across anything like that on my 69 Mach 1.
Rcodenewf 44 Report post Posted February 28, 2020 Don't recall seeing that on my 69 sportsroof when i restored it. ..John
Vicfreg 771 Report post Posted February 29, 2020 A better picture would help. The one on the left looks like a 69-70 convertible well liner trim piece.
3Katz 26 Report post Posted February 29, 2020 Here's a couple more pics showing the profile and length if that helps, I'm wondering if a part from someone else's build ended up in my parts at the body shop...
69Stanger408 82 Report post Posted February 29, 2020 Just reassembled m 69 March 1, do not recall seeing something that resembles what you have.
aslanefe 333 Report post Posted February 29, 2020 The trim I was talking about is 117 cm long, 6 mounting holes and has the same profile as yours. But your trim is about 105 cm long with 4 holes Looks like you have someone else's trim.
3Katz 26 Report post Posted February 29, 2020 Thank you everybody, sure had me scratching my head...
Mystang 11 Report post Posted March 1, 2020 Is that trim perfectly straight? I don't think any trim on any pony is straight. Plus it looks like the end goes into another piece. Do both ends look like that? I can tell you this, it's diffidently not the well liner on a 69 convertible. I would take it back to the body shop and ask where it came from. 3Katz 26 Report post Posted March 1, 2020 Yes it's supposed to be perfectly straight, it has some slight bends but that's from removal. I'll give them a buzz for sure
Midlife 814 Report post Posted March 2, 2020 Maybe it goes in the trash can?
Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted March 2, 2020 Understand you have a sports roof, but sure looks like the strip the conv top cover slides into atop the rear seat
3Katz 26 Report post Posted March 2, 2020 That's weird it looks so similar, mine is the only Mustang - they have Chargers, a Camaro and plenty of rods in there. I'm going to take it back next time I'm down as someone is sure to miss it.
danno 128 Report post Posted March 2, 2020 That piece in my 69 vet is 102cm long, and has 5 holes. I do not think this has the correct profile to be the same.
Vicfreg 771 Report post Posted March 4, 2020 Don't throw it out......
