Question on Shelby drop

Recommended Posts

You can leave the old holes, or weld them up if you like.

Before drilling the full size hole, after drilling a pilot hole, I welded a piece of steel as thick as the support brace to the edge of the brace where the holes are close to. This way the bolts sit on flat surfaces.

By the way, one of the holes on the last car I drilled, the brace was welded a little shifted; so the hole came out the edge of the brace. If you drill a pilot hole first, you can spot this issue before you drill the final size hole.

Step drills work great for this mod. I glued in some crescent washers to get a flat surface, then used a heavy washer. Most folks just leave the upper holes open.

Thanks for the info. I got it done today. I’ll probably leave the holes if it won’t cause any issues.

it will not cause any problem.

you can also but metal or plastic hole plugs at any hardware store to put in the old holes if you want to make it look a little nicer.
