BigDuke6 17 Report post Posted October 20, 2019 I was wondering if there was anything on my engine I could recycle. Germany is super expensive for getting parts over here.
Vicfreg 772 Report post Posted October 20, 2019 Lot's of Windsor based stroker kits available. Take a look at Summit racing you will get an idea of all of the combinations They don't weigh much, can't imagine shipping is too much. https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/esp-16526030/overview/make/ford

Germany is super expensive for getting parts over here. If you build a stroker, you need good aftermarket heads, and a roller cam and roller lifters. As mentioned, the crank, rods, and pistons are needed, so unless you have the other parts mentioned, you will need them also. In short, if you have a stock engine and want a stroker, you can only reuse the block unless you already have a good oil pump or timing set etc. 1 RPM reacted to this
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted October 21, 2019 Back circa Y2K I reused the rods on my 393. Polished and shot peened the beams, and bushed them for floating pistons. Did some math with the 5.95" rods to get pistons with the correct pin height. Some guys use 302 pistons, but I used KB hypers. As long as you read and follow the ring gap instructions from KB they work fine.

1969vert 55 Report post Posted October 23, 2019 don't 400 cranks need the counter balance cut down to fit the blocks? meaning slugs added to the journals?
barnett468 418 Report post Posted October 23, 2019 A 418 kit costs around the same as a smaller kit but requires that the bottoms of the cylinders be notched around 3/16" which only takes around 10 minutes to do with a hand held dye grinder. 1 RPM reacted to this

Can't remember when my brother did his, but the snout needs turned down for the balancer to fit. 393 was the biggest crack offered when he built his, And he wanted to go bigger. MikeStang 247 Report post Posted October 24, 2019 393 or 408 seems to be most plentiful and cheapest. We ran a 408 with TKO and 3.50 gears deep into the 12s with stock 351 heads and a small roller cam with full interior.
